@jordwalke Bro my Mac mini sits there and tells me it's got 200gb in "system storage" and nothing I can do about it and the thing crashes and kernel panics all the time because it runs itself out of hard drive space because of this. It's not a great user experience for me as a developer.

If you build a really great user experience for less technical people, sometimes technical people will love it too. MacOS/MacBooks ares good examples. Turns out developers don't want to deal with bloatware or configure drivers either.

I'm looking but surprised to find there is no open-source version of a screenless tracker like this or whoop. I don't want to be stuck seeing my data in their apps; I want to buy the sensors and vibe engineer my own dashboards + own my data. Is there anything like that?

Introducing Fitbit Air. It’s lightweight, screenless and comfortable enough to wear 24/7 — with a battery life* of up to a week. * Battery life depends upon many factors and usage and actual battery life may be lower.

@rauchg @moshettt Verified skills would be awesome. Like who wrote this thing and are they some sort of domain experts on the subject

Totally, I use them all for different things. Seems to me like they are all about on par in different ways but some excel at some things. I'm more noticing that the harness matters a lot too, not just the model. Gemini CLI is better at some things vs Gemini antigravity vs Gemini web. Same with Claude code, I like it best through Cursor, not the CLI. But I'm also not vibe coding very much.

@hyperserif haha, Claude and Codex are better, but you can make amazing apps with Gemini too. I'd like to encourage people in science and engineering fields to make things like this with my posts. For them, Gemini might have the most generous free tier. So I try to do my demos with Gemini.

Yep, I'm with you on how I use AI and I'm really happy with it. I will say, I do use some skills though and the feel way different then the other things on your list. Like I have a skill for Expo best practices in my Expo project. The AI sometimes auto-references it, sometimes I remind it to. Another skill I use is for modern CSS. Skills is just a bit of prewritten context you can give your prompt. Sometimes they are nice to have because they are created by domain experts or created as best practices by library makers and it helps keep the AI inline and not reference old versions of a library or something like that.

Feel like I'm missing out because I don't use skills, or a lot of MCP, or multi-agent orchestrations when using AI dev tools. I'm just like "implement this feature" or "how do this work" or "no not like that, do this instead". Idk, I feel fast and accurate so why change?

@techsolvd @shadcn @tailwindcss Found my tribe 😂... You'd think we were all alone here on X. Honestly there is no benefit that could possibly outweigh the markup hell you have to deal with.

@GregorySchier I used to support an all mac office of about 40... If you've never had any issues, you're either super lucky or like most apple users I've met, you've memory holed any issues you've had. Apple users tend to think...It was just a fluke, because macs "just work".

Ah, I'm remembering why I switched to Mac ~10 years ago. I just rebooted my Framework/Omarchy setup and now the screen is just... black. I'm sure I could debug/fix it but I have work to do.

Well tried out @cursor_ai... I kind of like it, but their free plan didn't really give me much a trial. The app is telling me after 24 hours of light usage (153 line edits) that I've got to upgrade to $60/month. Not sure how I feel about that, doesn't give me very much confidence that the $60/month plan will last very long either.

Woke up this morning to very confusing messaging from @GitHubCopilot - My annual renewal for PRO went through, but also they bumped me down to the FREE plan and my VS Code is now stuck in the stone ages. Cool.

Today I let my family down. I’ve worked for years, confident that whatever life threw at me I’d be able to tackle. If my family needs it, I’ll provide. Today my wife needed a cord. I confidently marched to my stash. 5v, 12, 19v 24v, even the obscure 27v. I have it all I was not ready for the curve ball life threw at me. 5v 6.5amp. Such high amps, so low volts. I came up empty. Cord guys I need your help. Was this all for nothing?

That only works if you want to be enterprise only. If you want to cater to enterprise and businesses of different size there are different expectations from each customer. For example enterprises require dedicated servers, higher up times and various compliances. They are willing to pay extra, a lot extra to have those things too.

Charge per seat. I never agreed with the idea of charging more just because someone is an enterprise customer. Build the product, price it accordingly. It definitely feels like rent seeking to charge more for the same product just because that customer could afford to pay more.

If I ever start another B2B company I'm never charging for SSO. No matter how much anyone begs me to agree to it. It is a unequivocal no. Just pure rent-seeking behavior. I will die on this hill.

@rauchg @0matm I think the UI is ok, but it really just looks like a @shadcn dashboard to me... and every other dashboard AI is slopping out now. I lived through the Bootstrap days, just as you did. It was good for some things, but you could also spot a Bootstrap site immediately on page load.

I'm not the biggest fan of Vercel's UI, but honestly? I would sign up for it, at least the things I want when entering a repository are all there within reach

Asked @v0 what it would look like if @vercel shipped @github 😁 (2 prompts)
