Why are you, a resentful autistic formerly gifted kid, reading HPMOR when Artemis Fowl already exists?

@kramerposts Bro is talking about the ever-present aspect of the yin that unintuitively exists within the realm of the yang, and vice-versa.

@granawkins Maybe life's endogenously irreducible wholeplexity laughs in the many faces of monofaceted analogical descriptors and is actually every one of these things and none of them and more at the same time, did you consider that

In the end, there are really only two types of cultures: 1. Cultures that prompt people to think deeply about their decisions. 2. Cultures that will cease to exist.

Nah you're good it wasn't anything personal. Imo Counter-Strike advanced the FPS genre by 10 years. It's one of the oldest esports with its tournament culture starting only a year after StarCraft's first televised game. Its viewership has maintained itself much more consistently than many other esports -- perhaps only behind League of Legends, but League of Legends is also half as old. I would push back on the feeling of its gameplay feeling stiff or unresponsive. Stiff implies lack of freedom or being restricted creatively. Counter Strike gives the player lots of creative room with fast movement speeds, emergent movement techniques, weapons for every situation, and simple equipment abilities that can change a situation in a split second. Even on a micro-level Counter-Strike's movement and recoil systems are very floaty by default, but skilled inputs make them as responsive as the player is capable of. In this way, every firefight is a competitive precision rhythm game where player movement and mouse movement must harmonize. I would say that it is extremely *unforgiving* rather than stiff or unresponsive. Counter-strafing a few frames early leads to inaccuracy, no bullet magnetism means that crosshairs must be perfectly centered on heads, and first bullet inaccuracy means that consistency can only be gained through coordinated, strategic play. This is the exact opposite of unresponsiveness. Rather, every action you make has an large, immediate effect on the game state. Compare this to Destiny where bullet magnetism makes firefights mostly determined by the first shot, Call of Duty where movement doesn't really affect accuracy, or R6 where movement is heavily restricted by the need to ADS a large amount of the time. To me, this is why the game has stood the test of time. The first hundred hours are only a prologue to learning the true depth of the game. Most people can find something they appreciate about its design immediately, and a smaller proportion, but still many, find things they can appreciate forever. Obviously, if the game isn't for you then it isn't for you. I doubt that's really the case though unless you dislike shooters in general. Imo the CS gameplay is really only rivalled by Apex Legends, which gets a few points off for me for being 15-tick and also having strong aim assist which dominates the higher-tier competition. Probably has something to do with both games being adapted from the source engine.

@i2equalsj2 But CS felt stiff and unresponsive. I simply didn't enjoy playing it. That was the brief. Maybe my comment about other people was a little harsh but I reserve the right to be imperfect. This is the harshest I've ever been on a work that wasn't made with outright evil intentions

Life is riddled with obstacles. The obstacles are a sort of evidence that a particular configuration of material should not exist. Life continues anyways, and perhaps definitionally. The amoeba persists despite its acidic environment. The flower blooms despite the mites.

In doing so, we risk immersing ourselves in inordinate amounts of suffering. But doing the opposite -- dissociating from painful emotions -- risks even more: missing out on the beautiful experience of living your life.

The goal is to become more deeply sensitive to our emotions. Sensitivity is a compass and emotions are a map. Using these tools, we can cross impossible gaps in our lives.
