@VirtualP3009 @luklira14 I did check out your updated spreadsheet soon after I tweeted that, so good thing I got the numbers right. I do however wanted to ask if it would be possible to have a way to compare 2 snipers at once and have it show the distance they intersect (if at all). Made a mockup:

Will verify come June 30th update ofc, but I crunched some numbers with the bullet velo/drag values from the BF patch notes to give you a better idea of how the current fastest sniper will be affected in BF6. This assumes Long Range ammo bullet drag coefficient changes from -.001 to -.002, and the 760m/s base velocity with extended barrel is 950m/s (1.25x). Same opinion as before, this upcoming update is to make the current snipers be used within 200m to be closer in line with their intended roles, however these new changes ultimately destroys timings at longer ranges. This opens up the possibility of long-range-only snipers to be implemented to fill this section (very slow handling/velo/ADS speed/Reload etc but with a new significantly improved bullet drag ammo type). Will DICE add those in? Long range is chalked until then! Hopefully you appreciate the info 🫡

Hopefully the HTI sniper is actually an impactful long range sniper, but I think I'm going to make the effort to learn jets to have another reason to enjoy large maps.

Would honestly prefer your first suggestion where getting headshotted while sniping would give you heavy headflinch. To make it work with Redsec you apply it to the high-powered scopes where the headflinch effect scales with the scope magnification (6x is light, 8x is heavy, 10x is you got hit by a truck).

@luklira14 Oh yea for sure, the penetration ammo is what i used for breakthrough because the benefits of the long range ammo was for 300m+. After the June 30th update here's the comparison with the ESR on the ammo types. Specifically look at 200m and below for breakthrough

@iEdyy In my opinion, you end up losing more than you gain by using that type of ammunition. I definitely prefer armor-piercing ammo (I'm not sure how to spell that in English). Perhaps this will change somewhat after the update. We'll see...

From my testing there is definitely a difference but you'd have to be in complete motion to see it and in general we're hardwired to shoot for the split second we stop moving like we do in previous games so you end up being able to get away with the 5pt option if thats how you play haha. 10 and 15pt options are for the aggressive movement while shooting playstyle and improves even more with the purple/blue laser attachments, but its still minimal in impact.

And I'm not just talking about the drag reduction values they mention., but also the values of some grip types. I feel that some of them don't make any difference in gameplay. For example, there are two types of angled grips. One costs 15 points and the other only 5. The 5-point one says you lose accuracy when shooting while moving. I did a series of tests and simply don't notice any real difference in gameplay.

long range ammo isn't needed at ranges you play at on modes like Breakthrough, but that's with today's sniper velocity and bullet drag value because they had real long range capabilities. After June 30th's update you're going to feel that change 100% if you don't use it because the max ranges were cut by like 700m, so it moves all of the relevant timings back. It's what you use to preserve the velocity for a longer period but you'll see that it's going to be terrible beyond 300m regardless after this update. These values are from me plugging in the new values from the June 30th patch notes using @VirtualP3009 bf6 ballistic calculator from his yt channel. After the update drops I need to go in portal mode and verify the timings in case i messed up the numbers.

I remember testing this long-range ammunition near the game's launch and finding it extremely useless. Besides, I didn't feel any difference in practice (Maybe because I don't like playing at long distances), I've never found any real statistics on how this affected gameplay. Where did you find those values? 🤔 Another issue is that this ammunition caused me to lose a good number of kills simply because it didn't have good collateral damage, Even when a teammate got in the way, it caused me to lose a headshot kill, and since then I've been using penetration ammunition on all my sniper rifles.

@iEdyy What was the desired outcome from this change? Long range was already not very viable since the only good map for long range sniping is Operation Firestorm. The snipers already all play exactly the same since their most effective ranges are 50-200m away. This just reinforces that
