Massive battle tonight between No. 1 Arizona and No. 2 Purdue for a Final Four berth. Arizona looks unstoppable and has played well against elite competition all year. However, Purdue will be the best offense they've faced this season. Prediction: Arizona 81, Purdue 75

Illinois / Iowa (Houston) Illinois won by this game by 6 in Iowa City but jumped out to a 29-11 lead in that iteration before Iowa slowly chipped away to make the game look closer than it appeared. It's actually crazy to think that Iowa opened a 1-point favorite in that game, but Illinois took some money and swung to the slight favorite by tipoff. And that was in the middle of Illinois' best run of the season. Now they want you to lay a touchdown in a game that McCollum is going to take the air out of the ball in. Iowa is typically a tough team to build margin against with the slow tempo they play at and the million different adjustments BMC will make mid-game. However, in theory, there are some aspects of Illinois that Iowa should struggle with. Hawkeyes weren't "bad" on the glass in that first matchup, but they did lose the rebounding battle 38-31. It was the 18% of possessions that Iowa turned Illinois over on that helped them make that game look closer than it really was. That 18% TO% mark for Illinois was also their worst of B10 play, so I don't know how much you can rely on that occurring again here, especially with Illinois having just seen a high-pressure defense with a ton more length & athleticism in Houston and faring exceptionally well And while Iowa had incredible success against the massive frontline of Florida, when the Hawkeyes have looked bad, it is almost always because teams are efficient inside the arc as you can beat up their lack of rim protection. Iowa is pretty reliant on turning teams over which is always a tough proposition against an Illinois team with 3 mismatch hunters & 3 skilled bigs One component that cannot be overstated in this game. I am pretty dam sure that when we look back in a few years after McCollum gets enough of a sample size, we will see that he is highly successful on short prep given his X's & O's chops. He is 3-1 ATS this year but one game was Chicago St so can't draw much from that yet. Underwood is 16-18 ATS at Illinois with <48 hour prep. 7-8 ATS on short prep L5 years. Pretty sure the Illini faithful would attest to Brad being...questionable...with game planning & in-game management. Typically, we like smart coaches because smart coaches are rational and predictable. BMC is such a mad scientist that trying to guess what he will do is like playing wack-a-mole, while blind, and the buttons you try to hit are the size of a dime We know all about Illinois' passive drop coverage that doesn't turn teams over nor puts them at the foul line. The teams who have had success against Iowa have sent pressure at Stirtz, but in this matchup, he should be pretty comfy compared to a lot of the coverages he has seen over the past couple weeks. However, the one caveat to that is he draws one of the best point-of-attack defenders in the country in Boswell. Bos is as physical as it gets for a guard. If I am an Illinois backer, I want to see him glued to Stirtz and giving no ground from the jump. I would assume that BMC runs a ton of ball screens to try and force switches as you're pretty content with most other matchups on Illinois outside of Kylan. Iowa obviously doesn't go without Stirtz. And boy, if this is 1-possession game late, and you're going to let McCollum scheme Stirtz into an advantageous spot, potentially without much pressure applied to him, you are playing with fire. It's far from guaranteed, but I think we could see some Illinois zone in this spot. Reason being that Iowa is a team who you are happy to keep in front of you and force them to hit difficult shots over you (already a foundational principle of Illinois' defensive style). When you get into problems against that offense is when, after 30 seconds of Iowa churning the shot clock, you make one tiny mistake being out of position defensively, and boom. Back cut, easy 2P. Stirtz and Koch are obviously pretty elite shooters. Folgueiras is plenty capable. So while it seems thin on the surface, it also protects the Balkan Bros from having to guard and switch in space against BMC's myriad of off-ball stuff A lot directionally points towards Illinois schematically in my opinion when you hold onto the ball and are a giant team with a lot of similar dribble/pass/shoot ability throughout your lineup, which is typically what makes Iowa a tough out. But I just find it hard to get to the window at -7 on short prep against a plenty dangerous team in a game where they were 1pt favorites (albeit on the road) 2 months ago w/o any material changes to the teams since then. These teams just played to 58 and 60 possessions in their last games. The score of that Iowa/Corn game was pretty eye-popping given the hot 3P shooting, so just keep that in the back of your head. That thing still only made it to 60 possessions. But I don't even know if this game gets to its 62-possession projection, so a bet on the over means you see low turnover counts (more shots, less dead possessions) and mega efficiency from both sides. Probably only under or pass if I took anything on the total but it's moved down a couple points already Pretty wishy washy, I know. Just have less of a feel how this plays out compared to the other matchup Another good spot for Koch 3Pointers. Check this out about Illinois. Look at Underwood's entire career on KenPom. Illinois is surrendering a 42.7% Defensive 3PRate this year, the highest for any team in Underwood's D1 career. The 2nd highest Defensive 3PRate by an Underwood team? 35.4% his 2nd year at Illinois. This Illini defense will let you beat them from 3 b/c they're so positionally huge Don't think they're in the prop market, so more P6/UD type stuff, but wouldn't mind unders on Davis and Humrichous as their minutes have been trending down in postseason games with their team finally fully healthy Tough game for overs on props with the expected pace

I’ll never understand why CBS gets Jalen Rose to do the halftime / pregame shows for March Madness every year. Same with (insert former NBA player A) or former female college player. There is nobody asking for this. Put people that actually watch college basketball on the show
