@mckaywrigley Hi, I’m Alice, and apparently I’ve stumbled into Wonderland Can anyone explain this to me? What is going on? Pretend I am not a tech geek in the slightest. What do I need to do (in normal person English, please, not binary or whatever).

I want to be crystal clear about this since the White House insists on manipulating rhetoric at the whims of the President: No regime change has taken place in Iran. Not in theory, not in ideology, not at all. Pezeshkian is still the president, Ejei is still calling shots for the judiciary, and Ghalibaf still controls the parliament. These aren’t “reasonable” people and they aren’t moderate — they are cold blooded killers, and they will carry out a massive campaign of slaughter when given the chance (which this two weeks of ceasefire gave them). Legitimizing them is no different than legitimizing Nazis; you are only kicking the can down the road. That said, if the highly enriched uranium is actually going to be handed over this is a great step — but once again President Trump’s rhetoric is misleading and frankly irresponsible and the Iranian people will pay the price for these comments. Even if we take the deal as a positive achievement and a step forward, it’s not peace…and it’s not even close. It’s a band-aid that preserves the regime…now it may be a band-aid that’s necessary or even temporarily advantageous, but to present it as solving a conflict or even “regime change” is absurd to the point of insult and sheer gaslighting.

German game studios in the 80s and 90s didn't have the same resources or international reach as their UK, US, or Japanese counterparts. Massive hits that crossed borders were relatively rare. Giana Sisters was probably the biggest German-made success of the 1980s, while The Settlers took that title in the 1990s (at least from what I remember of that time). One game (and its sequels) from that era that deserved far more success - and sometimes feels a little forgotten today - is Battle Isle, or more specifically its sequel Battle Isle 2 (Blue Byte, 1994). How it wasn't a bigger commercial hit still surprises me. Maybe it was the limited market or the lack of strong marketing power - who knows? It certainly wasn't the gameplay, which was simply excellent for a turn-based strategy title. The game even brought some real innovations. It was the first CD-ROM strategy game to feature 3D combat animations and unit displays created with raytracing and vector graphics. Granted, that was mostly eye candy, but it helped the game stand out from others in the genre that could sometimes feel dry and too plain, especially to newcomers. It also offered a huge variety of units for air, sea, and ground combat, along with 12 experience levels for each unit that greatly affected battle outcomes. The controls were straightforward enough for new players to pick up quickly, the maps varied in size and terrain (forcing you to adapt your strategies), and the pixel-style in-game cutscenes were a great touch. I couldn't get enough of the Battle Isle series - parts 1, 2, and 3 were all excellent, and the later spin-off Incubation was great too. The whole series is gravely underrated and overlooked. It remains one of my all-time favourites, yet I often wonder how many non-German players have even heard of it.

It appears Trump just agreed to give Iran control of the Strait of Hormuz, a history-changing win for Iran. The level of incompetence is both stunning and heartbreaking. What on earth is happening?

This life is fucking amazing. I'm so grateful to be alive, with all of you on this miracle of a planet. Oh and I'm sorry if I fuck things up sometimes. I'm a flawed human. But I promise to do whatever I can to try to add some more understanding and love to this world. After the world leader convos I get attacked intensely by all sides, and many disparate online communities. It has led to some really low points for me mentally. But I don't matter. I'm listening. I'll do better. And I'll try to find the strength to do more of them, always with rigor and backbone, seeking to truly understand. And despite accusations, I do extremely high amounts of research, sometimes 100+ hours for a conversation. Ask many of my previous guests. But when I come to the table, I put all that aside, and make it all about the other person. I don't ever try to sound smart. I know the vastness of my ignorance. But I'm trying. Sometimes I do fuck up and sound like a douche, or do something incredibly cringe. And I hate myself right after. But I'd rather fail and embarrass myself a million times, than not do what my heart says is right. And besides world leaders, historians, CEOs, engineers, etc, this year I want to travel the world and talk to a lot more everyday people on and off the mic. This is something I've wanted to do for a long time. Anyway this is written while on I'm on a 10 mile run, probably procrastinating, since to type I have to walk and not run 🤣 But I did just get stopped by a super smart and kind girl who works at a humanoid robotics company here. And she asked if she can give me a hug to thank me for being me. Sometimes the universe sends you a message that even a dumb dude like me can almost hear. I really needed that today. Thank you for the hug and the kindness 🙏 I'm just hoping she was real and I didn't just imagine that 🤣 Then again if I went full crazy might as well enjoy it! Back to the run. I love you all! ❤️

TL;DR - we're about to have open source Claude Code in Rust
Alex Volkov@altryne

If you, like me, just woke up, let me catch you up on the Claude Code Leak (I know nothing, all conjecture): > Someone inside Anthropic, got switched to Adaptive reasoning mode > Their Claude Code switched to Sonnet > Committed the .map file of Claude Code > Effectively leaking the ENTIRE CC Source Code > @realsigridjin was tired after running 2 south korean hackathons in SF, saw the leak > Rules in Korea are different, he cloned the repo, went to sleep > Wakes up to 25K stars, and his GF begging him to take it down (she's a copyright lawyer) > Their team decided - how about we have agents rewrite this in Python!? Surely... this is more legal > Rewrite in Py > Board a plane to SK🇰🇷 > One of the guys decides python is slow, is now rewriting ALL OF CLAUDE CODE into Rust. > Anthropic cannot take down, cannot sue > Is this "fair use?" > TL;DR - we're about to have open source Claude Code in Rust

In what sense is it intellectually dishonest, Nikita? The context is clear. My thesis is: I think your algo surfaces too little quality. And I think your excuses in these back-and-forth exchanges have been validating of that. To your credit, it's clear enough you agree with me.

You're either for Israel or for America. They're not an ally. They're a foreign country bleeding us dry. They've taken hundreds of billions from us, they've driven us into disastrous wars, including this one. They want to use our military and treasure until we have nothing left.

Imagine if Iran bombed and destroying the Golden Gate Bridge in California. What would you call the act? The USA-Israel the “aggressors”bombed and destroyed Iran's tallest bridge, the B1 Bridge. This will only unify the Iranian people against Israel and the United States. This is not what Trump ran on and this is not what we voted for…

Tonight’s operation in Southern Iran which resulted in the successful rescue of a Weapons System Officer (WSO) onboard an American F-15E Strike Eagle downed Friday over Iran, involved hundreds of special forces troops and other military personnel, including members of the U.S. Navy’s SEAL Team Six, dozens of fighter and strike aircraft, helicopters, and cyber, space and other intelligence capabilities, officials tell The New York Times. Senior military officials described the mission to rescue the airman as “one of the most challenging and complex in the history of U.S. Special Operations” given the mountainous terrain, the airman’s injuries and Iranian forces rushing to the location in the mountains of Southern Iran. The WSO evaded Iranian forces for more than 24 hours, at one point hiking up a 7,000ft ridgeline, a senior U.S. military official said. U.S. attack aircraft dropped bombs and opened fire on Iranian convoys to keep them away from the area where the airman was hiding. As U.S. Special Forces converged on the downed airman, they fired their weapons to keep Iranian forces away from the rescue site, but did not engage in a firefight with the Iranians. In a final twist after the officer was rescued, two transport planes that would carry the commandos and the airmen to safety got stuck at a remote base in Iran. Commanders decided to fly in three new planes to extract all the U.S. military personnel and the airman, and they blew up the two disabled planes rather than have them fall into the hands of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
