@LilacDeadland It's less to do with that and more to do with a simple principle: I need to cook enough of each thing to support everyone coming only eating that one thing until full. I've been to large family gatherings (20+), and they still cook at least triple the requisite amount of food.

@LilacDeadland it's just that family cookouts are often whole day events, often with people staying over after the first day, while conventional "food portions" are designed for a single sit down and then move on

Carlos Whittaker did a 7.5-week no-screen experiment and the results are wild. No phone. No TV. No laptop. No watch. Nothing. He even got his brain scanned before and after by a neuroscientist. The outcome? His cerebellum healed years worth of damage in just seven weeks. His cognitive memory score jumped from the 50th percentile to the 99th percentile of adult men in America. He said he felt like a completely different human, sharper, clearer, more alive. This one stopped me in my tracks. I’ve been feeling the scroll fatigue hard lately, and hearing someone actually measure the difference with real brain scans is next-level motivating. Our constant screen exposure might be doing more quiet damage to our brains than we realize. Sometimes the simplest reset (doing less) creates the biggest upgrade. Have you ever done a serious digital detox? Would you try one this extreme?

No, they don't 😂 1) Attractive guys get asked out a lot. Women ask out people who are above their league just like men do. 2) Plenty of guys aren't as desperate as stereotyped. They have types and preferences and will not say yes to just anyone. Nothing wrong with a woman asking, but we're not universally attractive to all men either. This is peak Women Are The Prize thinking.

I don't think girls realize that they literally have a 100% success rate if they shoot their shot first

It’s always when funny when people go with “Actually, My Culture has always been tolerant of gays/trans. Just look at our ancient traditions of castration and boy prostitutes.”

china has been chill about trans ppl for a long time, its in their folk stories from hundreds of years ago where people transition from woman to man or the opposite

@omibaloney This is a nice thought but there's a reason personalized ads work, personalised algorithms work. We can say these things are harmful on the macro level but humans run on hormones and most aren't mindful of their consumption. Personalized media gives a steady flow of dopamine
