It's long been rumoured that the Lynk & Co 10 / Z10 would get a shooting brake version, but while we wait for that, we can definitely look forward to a Lynk & Co 07 estate, judging by these spy pictures. Would be a hybrid mind.

Long ramble: I have been mulling if I should comment on President Trump's inane comments about NATO involvement in Afghanistan. Although 35 years ago, during the US-led first Gulf War, I was lying, handcuffed & blindfolded - literally 'shoulder to shoulder' - with a US colleague on a concrete floor in an Iraqi interrogation bunker, I rather feel it should be the current generation who express any anger at the President's ludicrous, demonstrably false utterings. Which is why I earlier shared some posts from others. But perhaps I will reflect like this - I watched Trump's press conference in the wake of the terrible tragedy when a US helicopter collided with a civilian airliner last January in disbelief. 64 people lost their lives but it seemed to be about him - his expertise, his knowledge, what he thought had happened. Much of what he said was incorrect. So I realised back then that it was going to be pointless trying to analyse any upcoming word-salads. Everything is clearly about him; his expertise in every subject, his grasp of all situations. His need to say something, anything, to show he is the best, the cleverest, the smartest, the most knowledgeable kid on the block. The pub-bore, the braggart, the know-it-all, pontificates on anything and everything in the hope of bolstering their own, clearly very low, self-esteem. I wonder that, in the President's mind, that it doesn't matter if what he says is factually correct? I wonder if he knows, understands, even cares, what is true? He is saying some words, which in his mind, seems to suggest that he's important and people will admire him, laud him. The fact that everyone around him then applauds this character trait, thanking him for his 'leadership' at every turn, just amplifies his desire, his need to continue. He's got want he wants - in his mind - attention, praise, admiration. So to sum up, trying to analyse Trump's ramblings is like trying to play chess with a pigeon. Somewhat interesting at first, but ultimately, truly pointless and rather frustrating. To those he has hurt, insulted, vilified, I send you my deepest condolences for your loss, and gratitude for your service.

What I did in Nuuk today👇🇬🇱. 1. Woke up and felt compelled to write a long tweet explaining why everyone saying the EU has leverage against the U.S. because EU institutions can dump Treasuries is wrong. 2. Had breakfast and spoke to some Danish journalists who had not seen the full DJT speech and didn’t have opinions about it as they “can’t” as journalists, they said. 3. Walked into town with @DrPippaM who is also here to do some tourist things. En route walked passed a local Inuit Greenlander who was lying passed out at the entrance of the local electronic shop in a relatively thin jumper in the snow. Nobody seemed to care, apart from two other local Greenlanders who were cautiously investigating the situation. 4. Concerned by the lack of inaction about someone who may be in a very bad state, but suffering from my own Milgram experiment-style paralysis, I drew Pippa’s attention. 5. Without hesitation Pippa rushed to the guy’s aid. He was passed out, breathing but not moving. He may of course have been intoxicated but either way lying in the snow not moving is not advisable and his hands were freezing. 6. Pippa asked the shop to call an ambulance and then attended to the guy until the paramedics arrived. It came relatively quickly and he was put on a stretcher and taken away. I do not know what happened to him next. 7. Went to do some tourist things and to take some more photos of journalists taking photos of journalists and speaking very seriously in front of cameras. 8. Walked passed a couple of Jehovah’s witnesses. We chatted. I said I would keep what was said private, but it was interesting. There are about 80 in Nuuk. 9. Went to buy some souvenirs in the local souvenir shop. 10. Went to the prime minister’s press conference. Absorbed the scene. There were about 100 journalists or more. I won’t go into it as that is far from a blind spot and I assume wall to wall coverage has taken care of the message. 11. Witnessed the man with the mic accidentally hit Jacob Judah the FT correspondent on the nose as he was about to ask a question. 12. Witnessed the prime minister call for a question from Politico. Whoever is here for Politico was strangely absent. Quibbled with the idea of stepping in for a second, but of course I am no longer at Politico. Shame! If I was I would have asked about whether there was any discussion about the Americans needing sovereignty in Greenland to create a backup ground station for satellite data transmission to guard against the Svalbard ground station link being switched off in the event American usage is deemed non civilian. [this is a vulnerability Pippa has been pointing out since 2022] 13. Walked to the harbour to check out the sun set. Beautiful! 14. Recorded a video diary about how I feel Greenland is like the Poland of the current world order shift, in terms of being at the crossing point of major powers while trying to preserve its independence and identity, and not really being a fan of either side. Noted that even the flag reflects this. 15. Went to the local museum to learn about the history of the Inuit culture here. Was fascinated to learn about their spiritual beliefs and especially the concept of Sila. 16. Absorbed the sunset. 17. Now having a coffee in the local coffee shop. Told the barista about the incident this morning. He said unfortunately this is quite common because there are a lot of homeless people in Nuuk with substance abuse issues. I find this amazing given the temperature and Denmark’s welfare state system. 18. Discovered some other fascinating local facts. 19. Completely unprompted by me - I promise ! - a local expressed his concerns about the introduction of a digital euro while we are chatting about the local economy. 20. Will probably spend the rest of the day and tomorrow writing everything up.

The usual Trump sycophants and know-nothings are all piling in claiming he’s a genius, this is the art of the deal in action, he played hardball to get a better Greenland deal than was otherwise available. It’s all nonsense. In fact, it’s TACO in action, a Trump surrender, a victory for European NATO for refusing to be cowed/bludgeoned. You will find there is nothing in the framework agreement re Greenland/Arctic region that hasn’t been available to USA/Trump for weeks, months, years. A much bigger US military presence. More US bases. Use of Greenland for the ‘Golden Dome’ missile shield defence. All available under existing arrangements, with Denmark saying many times it’s happy to go even further, with European NATO backing. Now NATO and America together will put more military resources into the High North as it grows in strategic significance. Trump gets nothing that wasn’t on offer before all his absurd threats and bluster about annexation. European NATO will nevertheless breathe a sigh of relief. But it should rest on its laurels. It urgently needs to reconfigure NATO so it’s a lot less vulnerable to Trump/Vance grandstanding/bullying in the future. Trump has backed down. But it’s no less of a wake up call for European NATO.

I’m flying east far more these days, and it’s hard to beat Qatar. I’ll take a two hour stopover in DOH every time over a BA nonstop to Shanghai. It’s slightly mad how the Tier Point changes have skewed behaviour. Yesterday AA even offered me two fares to LAX, one with points and one without, which says a lot about where airline loyalty is heading. I’ve ended up with two simple rules. Never fly long haul business with BA out of LGW. And make sure I retain oneworld Emerald so I can use First at LHR. The Concorde Room is excellent, but in truth First check in and fast track to the lounge is enough for me.

The new BA tier points structure sets impossible hurdles even for frequent flyers regularly using business or first. I have always planned my extensive and expensive global travel through London to use BA. These days are over. I will now use whatever airline is most convenient and competitive. It will make travel planning easier. I can make more use of other airlines whose business and first seats are far superior to BA. Hello Emirates, Qatar, Singapore, Etihad etc. I have BA gold for life so it no longer matters how much I use BA. I also have Group 0 status which is meant to allow priority boarding. But, like yesterday in Nice they could not even be bothered to call it. Same in London for plane to NYC. BA can’t even organise an orderly queue at the gate these days , something you’d think would come naturally to a British airline given the Brit propensity to queue. BA now run by numpties who put no value on long-standing, big-spending loyal customers, of which I’ve been one for 55 years!! They can’t even get the little things right. I flew London-NYC yesterday in First. WiFi meant to be free and I needed it for work. But free wifi didn’t work. So I had to pay for it. The lovely crew embarrassed by the poor service. I remember when my friend John King was the boss how proud the crews were to work for BA. Long gone. Crews are ashamed. No idea who runs BA these days. But he/she clearly useless. They’ve inherited the dead hand and cheapskate service of Willie Walsh, whose inability to determine what quality service meant began the long-running decline. He really was useless. Crew moral is very low as a result. Passengers see it. Good crew people, badly led. They lost any pride on working for what was once ‘the world’s favourite airline’ — then a matter of pride for staff and country and passengers. Now BA is just another middling airline over charging over the odds for a level of service barely above the cheaper budget airlines. A business model with suicide written all over it. @British_Airways

@CarlMcculloch79 Hi Carl. We understand why you're unhappy with the changes to the British Airways Club, but we are sorry to hear you will be flying elsewhere in future. Neil
