@asha_shar Bring back xbox exclusives. Putting xbox games on PlayStation was one of the worst decisions ever for xbox. Just when xbox was finally about to have a good consistent lineup of exclusives first party games (after more than a decade) ... first party games went multi platform

Xbox needs to move faster, deepen our connection with the community, and address friction for both players and developers. Today, we promoted leaders who helped build Xbox, while also bringing in new voices to help push us forward. This balance is important as we get the business back on track. As part of this shift, you’ll see us begin to retire features that don’t align with where we’re headed. We will begin winding down Copilot on mobile and will stop development of Copilot on console.

@Colteastwood @IdleSloth84_ Colt bro exclusives are important and xbox should bring them back. It was perhaps one of the worst decisions in the history of gaming to put all their games on the PlayStation

@IdleSloth84_ Explain why 10-12% of the games played and purchased are Exclusives? Also, this poll is likely skewed by the (hardcore) audience that voted

@50PlusGamer1970 MOST of the games they ported to PS probably lost money. Not to mention the loss of identity for Xbox. When you have your own store you make money on subscriptions, sales and microtransactions. By making your own store pointless it killed their long term outlook.

If you look at Xbox’s financials and say they should go exclusive and not take PS players 667M in revenue, you don’t care about the brand, you care about console warring and tribalism. The revenue metrics would be much worse without it. MS issue is how GamePass is used and how they have pushed PC as a lead way to play their games. They have trained their fanbase to not purchase games. Subscription services must be complimentary to buying games not the primary way to be in your ecosystem. I think they are trying to be the jack of all trades and the master of none. Hard to sustain that. Either don’t put any AAA games on GamePass and force all players everywhere, including PS and PC, to buy your games. Or go all in on GamePass, don’t make any more hardware, and make GamePass available on every system on the market and make that the only way to play their games. I don’t think what they are doing works and the numbers reflect that. I know that’s extreme and true path is somewhere in the middle, but I don’t see another way back to profitability. I think how Halo, Gears, FH6, and Fable do on PlayStation will guide them one way or the other.

Looking at these numbers is multi platform worth it?
Rhys Elliott@superhys

Here's some Xbox games that sold over 100K copies on PlayStation (@alineaanalytics estimates). Thirteen first-party Xbox titles have now cleared the 100K unit milestone on PlayStation. Collectively, they’ve generated $667M in gross revenue for Microsoft, as per our estimates. This analysis doesn’t include Call of Duty. We’ve also excluded titles from acquired studios that were released on PlayStation before Microsoft’s ownership, as well as legacy contractual obligations like Deathloop and Ghostwire: Tokyo. We dive into the list deeper over on our free Substack (link in bio!), but here's a couple of highlights: - Forza Horizon 5, which launched on PS5 last year, three-and-a-half years after the Xbox/PC versions, accounts for almost half of those revenues. That’s $323M via 5.8M copies sold - Sea of Thieves is also doing well on PlayStation. As one of the first titles in the initial porting strategy, it has moved 2.7M copies on the platform and generated nearly $100M there. It's also shown shown impressive long-term retention, bringing in 300K monthly active users (MAUs) on PS5 - Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has moved 537K units on PlayStation 5, generating $37M in revenue roughly one year after its launch. Released on Sony’s hardware just four months after its Xbox debut, the title has already outsold its Steam counterpart. - Meanwhile, Ninja Gaiden 4 and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 have both surpassed 250K units on PS5, with each title nearing $20M in PS5 gross revenue, while Starfield sales have continued to trickle in after its tepid PS5 launch a couple of weeks back, now passing 200K. Full analysis over on Substack (link in bio)

My takeaway from this is that you make online MP Xbox-PS crossplatform, but almost everything else you make exclusive as it's probably not worth the brand damage for 5 million sales across 11+ games

@PassiveProphet To be clear, they didn't this gen. 2020- 0 exclusives at launch 2021 - Best selling Xbox holiday ever thanks To Halo/Forza 2022- 0 exclusives 2023- 2 exclusives 2024- Everything on PS. They should have stayed the course and 2026 would be huge with Fable, Halo, Gears+Forza

1. Why are people pretending Xbox didnt attempt to compete while having exclusives (only to fail for the second time in a row) the majority of this generation? 2. Why are people pretending making games that didn't sell great anywhere exclusive would have sold more consoles?

While I see people bashing or making fun of Push Square for posting this news, I think it's cool to see people excited to play Xbox games for the first time. With the economy getting difficult for all of us, I think a lot of gamers can't buy every console. It's getting expensive! If this helps people discover new games, helps more devs reach a new audience, or helps the industry, I'm all for it.
