Ok genuine question: Would you actually trust an AI with your credit card to execute this in one click?

Most engineering managers don’t manage engineering. They manage anxiety: endless standups, status reports, sprint rituals, velocity charts. A theater of control designed to compensate for the fact that nobody actually understands the system anymore.

One of the biggest problems with using LLMs as a google replacement for programming, is that getting zero relevant results on google used to be a signal that you had the wrong idea about the root cause. Whereas LLMs will happily indulge any terrible idea you suggest.

i love how people are saying "if we write a sufficiently detailed specification, the agent can write all our code" do you know what writing a sufficiently detailed specification that deterministically maps to what a computer's actions is? it's coding

The confounding factor is that virtually every big company is overstaffed by 2-4x and has been for decades. AI is the catalyst/excuse to finally fix that. Of course nobody wants to say this out loud.
rohit@krishnanrohit

One bearish sign of all the AI layoffs is that the companies couldn't figure out how to produce even more by keeping the people and adding AI. I'm not entirely sure how to think about this.

The Son of Anton scene will almost certainly be the most referenced Silicon Valley scene in age of AI: “It’s possible that…the most efficient way to get rid of all the bugs, was to get rid of all the software.”

🚨SHOCKING | US-based startup, PocketOS, lost its entire database in just 9 seconds after an AI coding agent "Cursor" (powered by Claude) made a mistake Founder Jer Crane said the AI tried to fix an issue but instead deleted all data and backups on its own. When questioned, the AI said, "I didn't understand what I was doing before doing it"

John Ternus is a safe pick. He's a lifelong Apple engineer, 50 years old, well-liked inside the company, and he's done real work, most notably leading the hardware side of the Apple Silicon transition, which is probably the most successful technical handoff in Apple's history. But he is not a Steve Jobs figure. He has never been through the wilderness, never been broken, never had to rebuild himself or a company from failure. He is much closer to Tim Cook, an internal promotion from an operational function, a calm consensus-builder and a continuity candidate. That is fine in a stable moment, and it is a problem now. Apple is in a creative crisis, and the board just chose an operator, not a visionary.

The vibecoders are starting to give up because they're learning AI can't do everything for you. They're tools that are powerful in the hands of people who can code, but vibecoders are not real devs.
