My experience publishing browser extensions: 1. Firefox - super easy, barely an inconvenience. 2. Chrome - multi-page questionnaire, pay a fee, give us your firstborn. 3. Edge - dig through endless menus to find a screen that doesn't work. 4. Safari - YOU MUST BUY A MAC!

@aye_aye_kaplan It’s not a huge blocker, but I thought it was worth pointing out. When I first saw the error, I thought it wasn’t working, but to my delight it actually fixed a Sentry error.

@iamobiledev It looks like it's succeeding fine afterwards, models make failed tool calls all the time and recover, that's probably what's happening here. Will dig into it to see if the model is making any consistent mistakes that we can prompt out of it. Glad you're enjoying the feature!

Apple family account management is impressively bad. I have to create a whole new iCloud account now for my kid because Apple decided to permanently and irrevocably disable their account when I reported that the restriction settings weren’t being enforced.

I don’t know about anyone else, but I’ve found @cursor_ai’s CLI to be considerably faster and more stable than Claude Code. I’ve been switching between them over the past month, and that’s the main difference I’ve noticed. I’m not sure why people talk about Cursor as if it’s just an IDE — IMO it’s one of the best subscriptions a developer can have right now.

@eevblog Omarchy is really great if you're a dev. It was incredibly easy to set up, although it took some time to learn and get comfortable with it.

Linux People: There are so many distro's. Can you please let me know which one you have all rationally agreed upon as being the best Linux distribution, so us normies can just use the best one without fuss and fear of ridicule. Thanks.

@NearestCommit Well, if you’re a developer, you need to install WSL just to get started. Don’t get the hate; it’s free, and you don’t need to use it. Have you even used it? I guess not.

@levelsio Not brain rot—just framework bloat. Hosting React is way harder than spinning up a simple PHP stack.

This shows how far we've come with the dev brainrot Most sites don't need a multi-region edge server! Only apps with strict latency requirements like trading, gaming, real-time collaboration apps need them, but that's an extremely small share of most apps/websites A basic CDN that hosts assets (images, JS, CSS) at edge servers like Cloudflare is sufficient for 99% of websites/apps because it caches 95% of requests
Ravi Ojha@raviojhax

All these indies - they have never deployed a multi-region edge server. Add cache invalidation, deployment times, auto scaling, rollbacks etc - @vercel aces at that. For a website that server over 1M users, a devops who can do this reliably would cost over $5k.

@heyandras I run ~10 Next.js apps with solid traffic on Coolify and another ~25 on Vercel. Only hit one issue that affected self-hosted (and it was public). Surprised at the bad rap—no one’s forced to use their services, the choice is yours.

Just on Coolify Cloud, we have 8000+ NextJS apps hosted by others on their own servers. And there are 250k+ self-hosted Coolify instances. Ofc Next has Vercel locked-in features (or vice-versa), but you can self-host on a $5 server without prior deployment knowledge. You don't need millions of dollars.
@levelsio@levelsio

This works but Vercel isn't stupid They know they'll have to make the Next JS lock-in extra sticky to keep users from switching off once their startups take off So they do!

most ppl have never created anything useful beyond whatever they're doing at work. of course they're petty about your startup, github repo, youtube video, or whatever you're doing *publicly*. doing things in public is scary. just disregard their opinion and continue

Hi @github,
It looks like all my checks are stuck in a loop, but I’m not seeing any active incidents reported on GitHub Status. Could you help me understand what might be going on? Has anyone else had this issue today? Thanks in advance!

I wish @browsercompany would sell off @arcinternet to someone who doesn’t need to make VCs a bagillion dollars. Then charge $20/mo for it. And update it. I don’t know that I’ve ever been more bummed at a company sunsetting a product.
