Hello @virginmedia I’ve got no broadband service in PO16. Service Status sends me to call centre. That says an outage and sends me back to Services Status which is useless. What is the issue and when will it be fixed ?

I'm on the @virginmedia roundabout; 1. check online for broadband issues 2. Website bot confirms there is an outage and suggest calling 3. Call and get through to auto answer 4. They confirm there is an outage and send a text 5. Follow link in text to website... Return to 1.

I take (possibly forlorn) hope in the fact that although Trump is a mendacious, malevolent, transparently evil man, and stupid with it, Musk is not. He is highly intelligent and, diametrically opposed to Trump, he has the welfare of the world at heart. theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

This may seem far-fetched, but Farage will be Trump’s plan for the UK. That’s why he went there

@PaulbernalUK This is quite a take from someone so sanctimonious about the term ‘working’. Twitter is without question where irony comes to die.

Hi there France. Fully understand the problem with financing cultural heritage but I hear you’re thinking of premium charging non-EU visitors to the Louvre. UK national galleries and museums like @britishmuseum @NationalGallery are FREE to all. You’re welcome. Je vous en prie.

@PaulbernalUK Only if you’re so entrenched in your views that you are unable to see that deriving income from property or investment entails no ‘work’. Only feasible if you see modern life through the prism of a Jane Austen novel

The allegations about Chris Kaba's past are relevant, but don't alter his being unarmed and shot in the head. Surely there are less fatal ways of dealing with a possible suspect. If his car posed a risk it could have been immobilised by bullets to the tyres.

The meeting isn’t the issue. Nor Starmer taking tickets for a gig (which he then paid back amid concern over optics). It’s the apparent political intervention in a police operational matter which breached protocol to the extent the Met sought reassurance from AG. You can argue they felt it was justified by security concerns or economic benefit but they haven’t done that. Thus my comment about it not being a good look.

Why Pippa? I really do not understand why it matters that the PM met Taylor Swift…. We need to grow up as a country…. Of course he would meet her…. She is an important political force… she has met most major US politicians (on the Dem side) and not a single journalist in America would care.. even if she was flown across New York in an NYPD chopper.

I mean, let's face it. That is very very funny. Clearly these pitiful muppets have been playing games - maybe Jenrick lending votes for Cleverly yesterday, or Cleverly lending votes to Jenrick today and then misjudging his numbers. Either way. It's fucking hilarious.

@mattfrei Is the level of ‘fun’ the measure ? If so that seems a pretty poor decision. What ever happened to informative and insightful.

@trogglet @neil_baconator @ProfBrianCox And in other unexpected news we can add EU immigration policy to the list of issues that Brexit supporters didn't understand ( or more likely willfully ignored) Still beggars belief that a mature democracy made this decision based on lies and half-truths.

@neil_baconator @iamtheengine @ProfBrianCox But sovereignty is such a misused term, and was heavily misrepresented in the Brexit debate. We had sovereignty, the notion that we didn’t was pure fallacy. And to anyone saying they do not care about our economic outcome, more fool them. They’ve got exactly what they wanted.

I’m not buying this line of argument. Johnson knew, as everybody in the Conservative Party knew, that the Brexit referendum was about heading off the (over-stated) electoral threat from UKIP and simultaneously dealing with a fringe group of MPs in the party who were a distraction and wouldn’t shut up. Nobody, Johnson included, thought the country would actually vote for it. There was never going to be a White Paper because nobody sensible could think of anything to put in it. The expectation was that the electorate would sort the Conservative Party’s internal squabbles out for them by decisively rejecting it and all would be well. As an aside, we have the choice of continuing with this failed non-policy or not, and the current government have chosen to continue with it. I would love to see a White Paper laying out the case for staying out of the single market and customs union.

@ProfBrianCox It depends whether your argument is a sovereignty or an economic argument. The polls I have seen, such as Lord Ashcroft’s, show the majority of Leave voters voted Leave for sovereignty reasons.

I can't stop thinking about this. If you have that many white books, why organise them by colour.
