@cljack @typeclonghouse I agree, the assumption of an evacuation plan is that the alarm/indication comes early enough that people can safely vacate based on the, well, 'plan' ; way better that people are familiar with the process and execute it calmly should the need arise

@chomakovg His finishing was not great at times but the sample size was honestly pretty small, and his overall contributions (even strictly from a G+A standpoint) were more than adequate; add in how easy he made it for the other forwards to find space/opportunities and he was 🔥

@chomakovg Darwin was a great measuring stick to separate the wheat from the chaff in terms of a person's understanding of footy If they genuinely couldn't see how much space he was creating with his runs in behind and just how much attention and respect he demanded from defenders, well 🤷

If you have seen my posts in the last 2-3 years, you would have seen me talk about balance in football 10000s of times. When you have it, its so important to keep/maintain it. I will never understand how people look at players all the same. Each player is good at some stuff and not so much at other. They have a role. They compliment each other within a team. Thats how balance is created. Wont talk about the coach in this. Ended up being a long post so just a heads up 😅 I was a fan of Diaz. I was a fan of Darwin. I love hard work. People said they are brainless. Do nothing for the team…they had passion. They had intensity. They could get back in transition and help the team in that way. Made runs that helped the team. Salah enjoyed playing with them due to the chemistry and the way everybody contributed. Best part is…those same people are now complaining there is no passion within the team. Did Darwin miss a lot? He did. Was Diaz wasteful at times? Yes. But the countless times I have posted about them sprinting back in the 90th min to track back and win the ball is an insane amount. On top of that, when either of them started, it really allowed Salah to play with a lot more freedom. Grav/Dom/Macca would help out the right side more due to Trents defensive issues. Salah could stay higher as he was our main player and had the most quality to score and create so of course we would play to his strengths. But those two helped a ton off the ball and we didnt have to worry about the opposite side as much since they could cover/help. Yes, Diaz wanted out or contract wasnt given whatever that may be…we never replaced the profile. Similar to Darwin. Am i saying we win the league with those two? No, many more problems to fix but it would have been a better season. Sturridge talked about this early on in the season that it would be a miss. Jota was quality. Harvey was important off the bench and had important moments to help us win trophies. We had options. We had balance for most of last season. “Chuckle brothers” left in the summer. People celebrated. Said finally and will win everything automatically. Made posts of biggest “upgrades” just to shit on those same new players 6-7 months in. No rational thinking. Just flip flop. Mama was the first gk in the world on here for 2 weeks. Now he is good. Last thing, I admire those players because that ability to be good in transition moments, especially defensively is so unique. You can be quick. Physical…everything but if you dont have the will, it wont matter. I played as a defensive midfielder. I knew my role. 2-3 touches max and passed it to better quality players. I didnt have pace. I had to be smarter to be in better position. If i ever got caught in transition, i was screwed. I can work hard to try and get back but i wouldnt be able to catch up. Especially when the game is stretched. Dom can/does. Darwin did. Diaz did. Same with the attack. Nobody fears our attack at all now. But thats what makes a good team. Players are different. They bring something the other could lack to balance it all and make it a winning squad. Through the years many have found scapegoats in players that were important to teams even if you cant visually see it.

Last thing I will say about Szobo. There is no winning. If a player does good because rest of the team isnt, he is a shit player. If a player does “okay” when a team is winning, he isnt good…. So no matter what you wont be happy? The narrative of a player being good and carrying a team “only because the rest are bad” and not appreciating the player is such a weird view. Its not a fault of their own. Its simple, you just dont like the player and thats okay but dont spin things around to fit a narrative. Scores importsnt goals …”he scored only few freekicks” he isnt good. Works hard for the team… “all he does is run” nothing else. Plays at rb a lot of the season to do whats good for the team despite obviously us needing him in midfield…”well, he is never open and is scared of the big moment” Yet we have much bigger issues but go on and blame the one bright spot throughout this season. So odd. Dont understand it. You can be upset about what happened after the game. No problem. But dont say the guy doesnt give his all and has been good for us this season.
