Peacocks for #mosaicmonday, here with vine tendrils & a basket of grapes. Well-observed, good quality work with, in the lower border, a striking decorative tromp-l'oeil ribbon set against a dark background & picking up colouring from the birds' plumage. Antioch 2-4c CE

@GretelleMaitre Glad you are so taken with Brasenose: it is a charming and very friendly place. But there again, I am biased!

We should all have a Quad or a Cloister to escape to. The Romans’ greatest gift to the world? 🧐 This is Brasenose College this evening.

@ianebbage1 @riponcathedral I was helped on my way by a useful little book, 'Glory in Glass: Windows in Ripon Cathedral' by Malcolm Hanson, 2nd edition 2018. I photographed this glass last month myself, and like you I was intrigued by it.

Lovely greens & yellows in this window in Ripon Cathedral (south window in the west facade). Can anyone please provide information about it, as I can't find any? #stainedglasssunday @riponcathedral

I'll answer this here as well, in case anyone else is interested. The six figures are by Kempe & Co and date from 1905, and were among a collection originally in the chapel of Ripon Teacher Training College. After the college closed, these six were selected for rescue and were reset against a modern background in the Cathedral by Philip Crook in 2003.
