Imagine just half the energy campaigning against trans rights had been put into - Fighting the underfunding of women’s refuges - Fighting for single mums - Fighting for low-paid women Compared to fighting trans rights, which would have had most impact on women’s lives?

I am really saddened by the level of vitriol and hatred being directed toward the trans community. We are losing our common humanity. How hard is it to treat people with kindness and respect? Trans people are human beings — and they deserve to live in dignity.

@psychsocwatchuk @BPSOfficial Yea lots more research needs done. But a peer reviewed published article on positive outcomes for surgery in my last reply.

@ianjgill @BPSOfficial Ideologically driven practitioners ARE unsafe. Hence the Cass report requirement for a different and safer model of care. As for outcomes of surgery, we don't have comprehensive data on this, but the anecdotal reports about physical functioning mortality and regret are alarming

It is not possible to change biological sex. Some psychologists have affirmed the belief that it is. Some doctors have carried out mutilating surgery. These professionals are unsafe practitioners. @BPSOfficial you have colluded with themto our shame and embarrassment

@psychsocwatchuk @BPSOfficial Of course individuals need assessed properly and various options considered. But outcomes for individuals who are appropriate for surgery are encouraging, eg pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38315125/ To call professionals unsafe just seems inflammatory

@ianjgill @BPSOfficial Affirmation by psychologists interfered with other possible resolutions and referred kids for hormones medicalising and entrenching the problem. Surgeries often have appalling health outcomes and often don't resolve dysfunction. Adult gender clinics withholding their data!
