You are right, Professor @Jayati1609, the historical legacy of colonialism combined with current economic drivers, like deregulation of markets and regressive, outdated tax systems reinforce elite capture of laws, institutions, regulations, & policies — all the things that then keep worsening inequality.

Inequality isn’t abstract. I see it every day at @UNAIDS. Girls and young women in sub‑Saharan Africa account for 2 in 3 new HIV infections. Life‑saving technologies exist — but global rules and pharma monopolies keep prices far out of reach. This is inequality in action.
