We, the Muslim community in Nigeria, are peaceful people who strongly reject violence in all forms. Our appeal is rooted in our desire for Justice, Mutual Respect, and Peaceful coexistence. As Nigerians, we have the constitutional right to practice our religion freely without fear of provocation or intimidation. We therefore humbly urge the Nigerian Police Force and the Department of State Services to immediately call this individual to order, investigate the matter, and take all necessary lawful steps to prevent a breakdown of law and order. We remain committed to peace and tranquility and have full confidence in your ability to handle this matter professionally and impartially. No one is safe in Jos, no one is safe Nigeria. A fight broke out between 2 Christians groups and now the Christians are retaliating on the Muslims. I grew up with Christian neighbors who became like family to me. If you truly love Christians, why couldn't you stay in your own country and focus on raising or guiding them there towards violence, instead of coming to Nigeria to incite violence? Why must it be here? Regarding your comment quoting Surah 9:29 ("Fight those who do not believe in Allah and the Last Day... until they pay the tax, willingly submitting, fully humbled"), you have misinterpreted it. This verse was revealed in a specific historical context during the time of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) it addressed a military situation involving hostile forces (particularly the Byzantine Empire) that were preparing to attack the early Muslim community. It is not a general command for Muslims to attack Christians or non-Muslims everywhere, nor does it promote random violence or incitement. The verse deals with regulating relations and taxation (jizya) for non-Muslims living under an Islamic authority who refuse to support the state while benefiting from its protection similar to how Muslims pay zakat. It is not about forced conversion or attacking peaceful people. Many scholars emphasize that such verses are tied to self-defense and specific wartime conditions, not timeless calls for aggression. Your utterances promoting violence are truly concerning and condemnable. Why must you incite violence here in Nigeria? What is your real purpose, and who sent you?
