In recent days, a Russian sabotage group infiltrated the city center of Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region and shot several civilians near the railway station, a direct violation of international humanitarian law. They were just residents of Pokrovsk, killed for nothing more than living in their own city and being Ukrainian. Ukrainian defence forces eliminated the infiltrators, but Russia continues its assault against Pokrovsk, increasing airstrikes on residential areas and civilian infrastructure. Russia’s objective in the Donetsk region is the destruction of life itself – it aims to erase communities, homes, and those who live in them. That is exactly what is happening now in Pokrovsk, as in many other Ukrainian cities across the frontline. Russia continues committing its war crimes simply because it can. They must be put to an end. Russia must be forced to a just and lasting peace.

In Pokrovsk, russians are shooting civilians. The first photo shows man carrying a wounded woman in his arms because her legs had been shot through. She had apparently crawled along the street before he found her. The footage, captured by a drone, was shared by Ukrainian soldiers and posted by denys_khrystov/Instagram
