In the late 1960's, Paul Ehrlich was advocating for cutting off emergency food aid to India. This would have caused mass starvation. When people say that he was evil, this is what they mean.

Bigotry is when Albanians are incapable of passing selection for special forces, they know its because there is a very small number of Albanians who even apply for the role in which 90% fail anyway but they just can't let the unit celebrate its birthday without them throwing shit

Typing seems crazy now that I’m used to dictation. The time it saves is insane. Finding out what a time waster typing is has so far been the blackpill of the year for me

In all likelihood we probably just get recrudescence of religious fundamentalist right whose main issues will be prayer in school, legal restrictions on pornography/IVF, mandatory public veiling for women, “pro family” policy, and institution of common good economic platform

This is the yet-to-be released Rogue Air Rhino. It combines a belt squat machine with the fan flywheel you’d normally find on a rower. Essentially, it provides unlimited resistance that instantly matches the user’s power. AKA, it will be brutal to use.

Kvinnor anser det numera som BARE MINIMUM att flyga till Turkiet och betala massa pengar för nytt hår. Det är så över för min Lasse Kronér/Karl XII-frisyr

@CostelloWilliam @wil_da_beast630 Look. If they start counting calories & getting plastic surgery & facials, I'm out. But the bare minimum of replacing the hair on half a bald head, staying physically at least average, and dressing like you didn't just roll out of bed, with scraggly beards would be nice.

War (Markets): What Are They Good For? Prediction markets on war are under fire. Polymarket pulled a nuclear detonation market after backlash. Kalshi froze $54M in Khamenei bets citing a "death carveout." Six senators want the CFTC to ban it all. Here's why the debate isn't as simple as the headlines suggest. 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘄𝗮𝗿 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗯𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗱? Regime change in Iran and nuclear detonation are events that pose real economic risk to individuals, businesses, and entire countries. They clearly satisfy both core functions of prediction markets: hedging and information aggregation. The alternative is that this information stays hidden until governments decide to surprise us with the outcome. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 "𝗴𝘂𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀" 𝗮𝗿𝗴𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 Yes, there's something unsettling about profiting off war. But buying oil futures is already a proxy bet on war. Hedge funds already process military events as trades. The $529M on Polymarket's Iran markets is a fraction of what moved through oil futures. Prediction markets just make the bet explicit. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗿𝗴𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗮𝗶𝘃𝗲 Bloomberg says price signals could leak intel to enemies. But if someone is willing to leak classified info for a small profit on Polymarket, they could just as easily leak it to a newspaper or a foreign government. The problem is security protocols, not prediction markets. See: Jack Teixeira leaking 100+ top-secret documents into a Discord chat. See Chelsea (nee Bradley) Manning leaking classified information to Wikileaks, and then being pardoned for it. No prediction market needed. 𝗞𝗮𝗹𝘀𝗵𝗶'𝘀 𝗱𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝘃𝗲𝗼𝘂𝘁: 𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗺 Kalshi says it doesn't allow profiting from death. But it ran a market on whether Jimmy Carter would attend Trump's inauguration — and paid out "No" after Carter died. "You settle on death, just not when it makes you money." The carveout turns every market into a conditional market, which is fine in principle, but the arbitrary application erodes trust. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗶𝗱𝗱𝗹𝗲 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 Banning all war markets would kill election markets too — any elected official can be assassinated, any president can wage war. But a nuclear detonation countdown feels more like rubbernecking than risk management. The answer is nuance, not a blanket ban. Some of these markets are clearly valuable. Others are just bad PR the industry can't afford right now. Full article ⬇️
