Pregnant Black Mom Arrested for K*lling Her Boyfriend After He Attacked Her During Baby Shower Keshia Golden, a Chicago mother, was 8 months pregnant when she fatally stabbed her boyfriend Calvin Sidney in October 2022 after he allegedly attacked her (hitting her, grabbing her hair, and slamming her head) during her baby shower. She claims self-defense to protect herself and her unborn child; supporters are calling for murder charges to be dropped.

@Grumpy_Hoosier @MrPitbull07 Stop being so fucking hateful. Students, that’s who she meant. And yes many Americans are going hungry. You don’t know that because it’s never broadcast for obvious political reasons.

@MrPitbull07 "It struck me that people were hungry in our own school..." Ugh. Americans are incredibly fat. No one is hungry. But I guess women like to imagine people are hungry. It taps into their emotions.

Student Anna Villines saw a janitor pull an orange from the trash and she realized how much food was being wasted at school. She said, “It struck me that people were hungry in our own school, and here we were throwing away food that could be used.” She talked to the principal about donating untouched food to a local pantry. That, she learned, wasn’t possible. “He said it would be a violation of health regulations and could affect federal funding for school lunches." She then learned about a school in Africa where they had set up a community refrigerator where students could place uneaten food for others to take. A refrigerator was purchased by the school and now it is stocked daily by students who place their unopened fruit, milk, and packaged items inside instead of throwing them away. And by the end of most school days it is empty - people stopping by it to snag something to eat. “I feel comfort knowing that students in need are able to grab food on the go and nothing gets wasted.” Stories help us imagine ways to solve problems for the hungry in our own communities. You never know who is hungry who is sitting right beside you. Imagine the ways that our lives could shift towards meaning if we focused on serving one another rather than discounting and competing. Our youth deserve a life of meaning and it is stories of hope like this one that means we still have a chance to make an impact and change our ways of showing up.

He was in his room playing video games in Alpena Township, Michigan when he heard his 8-year-old sister scream outside. The first time, he figured she was just messing around with friends. The second scream made him look out the window. Owen Burns is 13 years old. His dad Andrew had taken him to the range, practiced with him on his BB gun, and worked with him on his aim over the years. The slingshot was something they had picked up just to play with. Owen was not supposed to use it inside the house because he had a habit of breaking things with it. None of that crossed his mind on May 10th. What he saw through the window was a 17-year-old boy who had come out of the woods and grabbed his sister, covering her mouth, pulling her toward the trees. Owen grabbed the slingshot, loaded a marble, and fired from the window. He hit the attacker in the head. Then he loaded a gravel rock and fired again. He hit him in the chest. His sister broke free and ran. The attacker fled into the neighborhood, where police later found him hiding at a nearby gas station, still carrying the injuries from the slingshot. Michigan State Police said those exact wounds helped them identify and build the case against the suspect. The 17-year-old was charged with attempted kidnapping, attempted assault with intent to do great bodily harm, and assault and battery. Police said what Owen did was extraordinary and that he should be commended. His mom Margaret said she was just glad he picked it up when he did. When a reporter asked Owen how he managed to hit the target twice under that kind of pressure, he kept it short. He said the guy was just a big target. Not like one Pepsi can. What do you think made Owen act instead of freeze in a moment that most adults would not be ready for?

My daughter is 11. She came out of gymnastics last week and told me a new coach called her “too heavy,” compared her to another child (who was 8) and treated her differently. He refused to spot her. Let that sink in. There is absolutely nothing wrong with my daughter. She is strong, muscular, and healthy - and she’s at an age where her body is naturally changing. Comments like that are not just inappropriate, they’re harmful. I reported it. He’s gone. Terminated. When they found out they were furious. But this is exactly how it starts - girls being taught to question their bodies, their worth, their place. I’m proud of her for speaking up. I’m not okay with the fact that she had to. This still happens. Right here in Canada. In 2026. So gross.

"Thank You" was written by Dido for her boyfriend at the time, lawyer Bob Page. The song first appeared on the soundtrack of the film Sliding Doors (1998), a year before the album No Angel came out. But it was the sample that Eminem used in "Stan" (2000) that changed her career: Dido listened to the track and loved it. She even appears in the clip as Stan's pregnant girlfriend! This sample transformed her career once and for all.

This isn't Photoshop. This is the face of a champion wrestler who nearly died in a chimpanzee attack. At just 6 years old, Dunia Sibomana was attacked by a pack of enraged chimpanzees in a DRC national park. They tore off half his face and killed his brother and cousin. It was horrifying: both lips gone, part of an ear missing, a finger lost, muscles shredded, and deep scars everywhere. Because of how he looked, Dunia became an outcast. Kids bullied him. Adults looked away. At 8, he was brought to the US for a charity program and underwent over a dozen life-changing surgeries. They rebuilt his lips and muscles using tissue from his forearm. After being adopted, Dunia discovered freestyle wrestling. He gave it everything and succeeded. In just three days, he won two African Championship golds: first in the youth division (winning every match early, 33-1 total), then in the senior division 🥇🥇 Now 18, Sibomana is one of the most inspiring young athletes on the planet. He doesn't hide his face. He owns his story and trains like hell to be the best.

George Cukor suggested Ingrid Bergman to study the patients at a mental institution to learn about nervous breakdowns to prepare for role in "Gaslight" (1944). She did, focusing on one woman in particular, whose habits and physical quirks became part of her character in the movie. (Source: TCM) P.S: On this day, 82 years ago, "Gaslight" (1944) premiered in New York City, USA.
