At our corporate retreat last year in Lakowe Lakes, I invited @Babajiide to speak to the team and he graciously agreed. He delivered an excellent presentation but something else happened. As we chatted after his speech, he mentioned that he had a KPI dashboard that he tracked weekly with his own team. He showed me on his laptop and I begged him to share with me. He laughed and said a very frank no. So I got to work. By January 5th, I’d built my own dashboard tracking 150 KPIs across the business. I shared with my management team and ask them to remove the ones they thought were not relevant to track weekly. So in Q1, we sat down every Tuesday for one hour to go over 98 KPIs across finance, ops, HR, product, sales, marketing and CX. In the first 3 weeks, I won’t lie, it was very daunting. A little bit of fatigue set in, but I begged them not to get tired. Now the benefit is that, very quickly, everyone becomes ridiculously smart about the business. You can immediately see what is working and what is failing and you have time to course correct where necessary. And it was very rewarding because together we were able to deliver nearly 46% QoQ growth. A lesson in leveraging community, humility and applying what you learn. So thank you again, @Babajiide, even though you no share your dashboard with me 😅

@dolawanle @ShabanaMahmood If you read the case you will understand the reason why he got stripped of his citizenship. According to the GMB “Such measures are typically reserved for individuals accused of terrorism, or involvement in serious organised crime”. The man is clearly working for Russia

Shabana Mahmood @ShabanaMahmood, has stripped a native British man of his British citizenship. First time in British history over his Russian links. Do not forget your home country. Some things will happen in the UK in the future that will be unbelievable📌

Nigeria’s Deputy Senate President flew a homeless man from Lagos to London. Told him he was going for a better life. The plan was to harvest his kidney for his sick daughter. 😳😳😳 The man used to sell phone parts at a market in Lagos. He could not afford a £25 bus ticket to Abuja. When he landed in London they took him straight to the Royal Free Hospital. The doctor examined him. Said he was not a suitable donor. He ran. Slept on the streets of London for three days. Then walked into a police station. Told them he was looking for someone to save his life. The senator had promised him £7,000 for the kidney. Told hospital doctors the young man was his daughter’s cousin. The UK judge said the senator had multiple properties, domestic staff, maids, chefs and drivers. His victim could not afford a bus ticket. The Nigerian Senate President wrote to the UK court begging for leniency. Former President Obasanjo wrote a letter too. The Speaker of the House called him a brilliant lawyer and dedicated family man. The UK judge was not moved. First conviction of its kind under Britain’s Modern Slavery Act. Nine years and eight months. His name is Ike Ekweremadu. Deputy Senate President of Nigeria. 🇳🇬

We sometimes make fun of the meddlesome person, the one who will not mind their business, the stickler in the group who won't stop pushing until everything is done exactly right, the Karen even. But without these people, society would be poorer. It is people like these who break conspiracies of silence, who challenge the complacency that leads to a breakdown of common values, who discover and fight the terrible things that many have, by their willingness to ignore the little things, been allowing to fester. The world is truly held together by the love of very few people.

This is an own goal. So you know he is a terrible person, deeply unwell per your own narration, but you discussed how the "enfant terrible" would get into government "several times"? And even "encouraged him to be patient and prayerful" while feeling his "deep frustration and depression"? He did not change. So why are you, patient prayer warrior, involving us in the matter? Why not take your own advice and be patient and prayerful?

FEMI FANI-KAYODE: WHEN WILL YOU STOP BEING A THUG? By DELE MOMODU I knew Chief Babaremilekun Adetokunbo Fani-Kayode, Q.C, SAN, of blessed memory, the father of David Oluwafemi Adewunmi Abdulateef Fani-Kayode aka FFK, in Ile-Ife, long before I met his querulous, garrulous and cantankerous son. Femi is a classic case of a wasted investment. He attended some of the best schools pedigree and/or money could purchase, but turned out an outright and incurable thug. He went to Cambridge University, probably a 4th generation in his family, but became an enfant terrible, fighting anyone and anything, including esoteric spirits, in sight. All supplication and intercession by friends and family on his behalf have failed to cure his strange malady. And this is the man President Bola Tinubu is about to unleash on Germany as an Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, for God's sake. For Femi, it is a fulfillment of a long expected appointment. We discussed it several times. And I encouraged him to be patient and prayerful. I felt his deep frustration and depression. He was already working on Plan B, and begging a few of us to help him reach out to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar (GCON), if all hopes evaporate. Femi without power is like fish out of water. It is such a pity that now that Tinubu has finally looked at his side, with mercy and compassion, he is still busy fighting, like a pig, instead of seeking urgent rehabilitation into the comity of sane human beings. - AARE BASORUN AKINROGUN DELE MOMODU is a journalist and former Presidential candidate.

In 1987, Janet Adegoke made history as the first Black African woman to serve as a mayor in London. As mayor in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, she built a reputation for empathy and community work, supporting causes ranging from sickle cell advocacy to mental health and welfare for the elderly. She was also a founding member of the Africa Link, an initiative created to support Africans in Britain facing loneliness, depression, and social isolation. Colleagues described her as warm but firm, a leader who commanded respect and used her office to bring people together across communities. Less than five months into her tenure, Adegoke died at 47 after a period of illness, cutting short a public service career many believed still had far to go. Her death drew a large, emotional response, with tributes pouring in from across the communities she served.

@Dayveed_Ade Yes. WC26 is slated to play in 16 stadia across 16 cities. Going by preseason logistics in the US, despite their new stadia, traffic will always be an issue so the only thing I’d optimise at short notice is trains. It’s just going to be a scandal preparation wise.

I hold a non-STEM degree (B.A), lived outside Lagos, relocated with a job offer to Germany from a small startup in Nigeria, and switched jobs in Germany in the middle of the worst job market in recent times. You can argue that I was lucky two times in a row, but I do know one or two things about getting outlier results. "AI is taking over tech jobs" is a convenient explanation for why you’re yet to land a job. But what if the requirements have changed and you’re no longer at the competence level where you can get a job? Accepting this alternative explanation for rejection emails after applications or interviews is a difficult pill to swallow, so we just blame AI. What if pre-Covid job market vs post covid job market show you that Covid was a black swan event that created artificial demand for tech talents and the market is correcting it now? Either alternative explanations lead to a similar action item: you have to work harder, up skill, etc. If you’re getting interviews and not converting them to offers, I know it’s a bitter pill to swallow, but you’re incompetent. "Interviewing is a skill" is crap! Other people are getting those jobs even when they don’t have this magical interviewing skill. To stand out, you need to be way better than average. The odds are already against you if you are African. Some of your hobbies may have to take the backseat. You’d be disappointed in yourself if in the end you don’t make it because you know your potentials. My tone may be harsh, but it’s a choice between being blunt with yourself and the recurring rejection emails after applications/interviews.
