@EthanFromOnline @JohnHodgson1986 their underlyings have been pretty bad for a while just benefited from an incredible hot streak that has them in top 5 contention.

@JohnHodgson1986 Was just saying similar, their squad isn't particularly good is it, I don't know how they sustain 5th and a European semi final.

Whether it works or not I respect that Spurs hired a football coach to keep them up. I don't really buy a team like this just needed someone to improve the vibes around the place. They need to do more footballing.

@AFC_Nadeem44 @mixedknuts How exactly is a corner a product of unfair defensive play lol most corners are deflections off shots or crosses

@mixedknuts Exactly. Set pieces are meant to be notably attacker favoured . Not balanced, not casually defendable. But distinctly attacker favoured. It's literally a punishment for unfair defensive play. It's just that a team and coaches came along that understood the significance of that.

This is just blatantly wrong. Set pieces were ALWAYS broken. So are throw-ins. It's just that few teams bothered to train them more than 5-10 minutes A WEEK. 30% of the goals, 2% of the training time. 🤔 People don't complain when Messi frisbees DFKs into the side netting.
Hamzah Khalique-Loonat@HKhaliqueLoonat

When a team can create >2xG in a single half of football from set pieces it’s hard to argue that set pieces aren’t breaking the game as we know it.

@11Marcc @Bd_irB_ll I agree with you mostly but I guess one could argue that Arsenal’s attackers have been injured quite a bit. Havertz and Saka have missed a decent number of games this season in particular.

@Jmanriquez_21 @EthanFromOnline Alvarez would be my first choice too if we could afford him without compromising elsewhere but that’s not the case unfortunately.

Alvarez is great fun, and I don't buy people saying he can't play 9 or whatever. But I still don't massively get Barca's obsession with him. You're paying 120m+ for a 26 year old. For a team with many holes, he'd have to he nigh on unstoppable to justify that money.

@iFCBellissimo So it’s ironic that all these guys love upholding Bayern as this standard when it’s mostly just player quality. Ofc Kompany himself has good ideas but ultimately it’s down to having talent across the board.

@iFCBellissimo The clearest most obvious case of individual quality mattering above all else is that Kompany’s Burnley couldn’t buy a win in the PL but the same ideas at Bayern have created a juggernaut

@EthanFromOnline Yeah fair point. I think ultimately we just need better players. Flick’s style and intentions are secondary to player quality imo if we upgrade the squad and it becomes clear the issues persist to the same degree it would be time to consider a refresh

@ijustbeonhere Sort of agree, especially vs Atleti. Still, if you're consistently going out to worse teams, clearly worse, then you gotta be extra critical.

@_Zeets I kinda see your point but at the same time players like Casado and Garcia catch plenty of flak too. I think there is some bias with Cubarsi for instance but he is also only 18 so fans are naturally less critical.

If you’re not from La Masia, they will never forgive you for that. But Flick has those non-defending defenders playing a suicidal high line and they get little criticism because they can pass better.

@DianaKristinne Well the difference here is that Lamine is just 18. Those guys started playing week in week out somewhat later in their careers. I hope he’s protected and I hope Barça know they have to be careful.

Leo never wanted to rest. Neither did Cristiano. Or Mo Salah. Or any other guy in that bracket. They trained and lived in a way that ensured they could do it. Will Lamine's body help him get to that level of fitness? We'll see. But it's not always someone's fault. Injuries happen

The best players in the world want to be on the pitch every minute. The clubs that pay them a lot of money also want that, the money has to be on the pitch to be a good investment. Enduring fitness every 3 days is one of the top attributes a player can have.
Diana Kristinne@DianaKristinne

@GoalDiggerFCB It's also not anyone's fault injuries happen. They've been happening since people have played professional sports. They will keep happening. What you can do as a top athlete and club is prevent those as much as you can with training and lifestyle. But even then shit happens.

@NotSteven01 I don’t think Barça fans realize the dangerous games the club is playing with these players’ careers. A 17 year old should not have played the minutes Lamine did last season. It’s fucking disgusting that it was allowed

@DKostanjsak The actual answer to how do we get better is simply to get better players. That’s it.

@DKostanjsak It’s just variance. There is nothing special about the way we lose nor is there a deeper explanation. Pep’s City were often dominant and had the ‘control’ gear and only managed 1 CL in 10 years. The one they won also involved luck in the final.

If Diomande had links last season people would’ve said “buying a winger with 10 games in LaLiga from Leganes? Good signing for Girona”. I’m not dying at these options but it’s just funny to see.

Would be decent signings for Villarreal

3-5-2 Koeman masterclass, Frenkie-Messi synergy. Piqué monsterclass performance, i was there, and i won't forget that. and the CDR run itself was enjoyable, the vibes were there.

@iFCBellissimo @NacTarek Oh yeah I’m not saying it was unfair to Chelsea or that we were favored somehow. But yeah was basically agreeing with you— the winning team in the CL has always had luck and moments and they get to write their own history.

@ijustbeonhere @NacTarek There was one clear penalty, "Pique's hand", and we got decisions against us in the 1st leg. For the luck part, yeah, they cooked us with physicality. But this kind of game happens to everyone in their CL campaigns. The one who wins is the one who gets away with it.

If Flick was in charge, people against him would've talked about how he got the best frontline oat, a squad full of leaders and experience, and most of them were in their prime. Downplaying them is blatant revisionism. Also, how lucky he was that he had to face opp. without-
alex 🇳🇬@agizzlefizzle12

- 0 goals conceded at home - 5 goals conceded in the entire KOs - against juve, bayern, psg, and man city - with pique/mascherano/mathieu CBs and busquets + old iniesta + rakitic imagining if flick was in charge lol. his fans would say we can’t compete unless we get new players
