People talk of King George’s “betrayal” as if this were a private family quarrel. It was not. By 1917 the Romanovs were a toxic political liability, Britain was still at war, Russia was collapsing, and extraction was far from guaranteed. King George and the British government acted as statesmen first, and with the information they had, that was the right call. 🇬🇧 🇷🇺

The “George betrayed his cousin” line is too neat. “Nicholas the Bloody” was seen as a disgraced autocrat associated with repression, bloodshed, and the collapse of his own regime. And it was Kerensky’s Government, not the Bolsheviks, that first kept the Romanovs under arrest. By the time the Bolsheviks took power, the window for getting them out had already narrowed badly.

@ZHall13688667 @Space_Strategy I wouldn't say because it's day. I would say it's because the camera is set to restrict light (via aperture aka f/stop, film speed (ISO), or both. Crank-up the exposure or swap the film magazine so that you can see the stars, but anything on the ground will then be over-exposed.

Οκ, είναι 2 ξεχωριστές ερωτήσεις: το «γιατί οι Έλληνες αισθάνονται το Χ σε σχέση με το τι δηλώνει το έθνος Υ» εξηγείται σε μεγάλο βαθμό από το πως εκφράζεται κ.α. ο κάθε λαός, είναι διαφορετική - και ενδιαφέρουσα - κουβέντα. Το «γιατί δεν είστε ευτυχισμένοι (μερικοί/πολλοί απο εμάς)» είναι διαφορετική ερώτηση και αρκετά δύσκολη (ή περίεργη) όταν την κάνει δημόσια ένας υπουργός

Προφανώς απευθύνεσαι στο ~30% που θα συνεχίσει να σας ψηφίζει come what may. Οι υπόλοιποι θα το εκλάβουν ως εξοργιστικά ανειλικρινές ή - αν είναι αμετανόητα καλοπροαίρετοι- ως μια ακόμα ένδειξη ότι η επαφή με την πραγματικότητα έχει δυστυχώς χαθεί. Χρόνια πολλά.

Χθες Μεγάλη Παρασκευή έλειπε η @ManolidouE καθώς είναι ομιλητής σε ένα σπουδαίο συνέδριο για την Ελληνική μας Γλώσσα στο εξωτερικό. Πήρα λοιπόν τους γιους μου και μερικούς φίλους μας και πήγαμε στη Μάνη. Πόση ομορφιά κρύβει η Ελλάδα μας, η ομορφότερη Χώρα του Κόσμου. Όσο και να δηλώνουμε «δυστυχισμένοι» πρέπει να ξέρουμε ότι είμαστε αληθινά ευλογημένοι που γεννηθήκαμε εδώ, τρελαίνομαι όταν βλέπω λαούς μέσα στην φτώχεια και στον πόλεμο να δηλώνουν πιο ευτυχισμένοι από μας…Δείτε στο βίντεο μερικές από τις απίστευτες ομορφιές της Μάνης και αναλογιστείτε ότι για να ζήσει ένας βορειοευρωπαίος μία μέρα σαν και αυτές που ζούμε εμείς αυτές τις μέρες, θα έπρεπε να ξοδέψει μία περιουσία. Γκρινιάζουμε όλη μέρα ενώ ζούμε εδώ και έχουμε όλες αυτές τις ομορφιές δίπλα μας. Και μήν μου πείτε ότι είναι για λίγους, διότι πραγματικά όπου και να πήγαμε βούλιαζε ο τόπος από τον κόσμο. Ας αντισταθούμε στην έμφυτη τάση μας να τα βλέπουμε όλα μαύρα και ας ευχαριστήσουμε τον Θεό για την υπέροχη Χώρα που μας δώρισε. Καλή Ανάσταση και καλό Πάσχα να χαίρεστε όλοι τις οικογένειές σας

i) No, scientists do not say humans evolved from apes. We just share a common ancestor
ii) #Evolution did not stop. Human life is too short to notice change on that timescale. Mountains, valleys, even continents are still changing…we just dont live long enough to see it. But evolution is observable all around us in other organisms
