Great job done by IESCO Mr. Naeem Jan Chief Executive Officer Mr. Aslam Khan GM Operations and Mr.Shahzad Ahmed Jail Superintending Engineer of IESCO had visited the Red Zone in Islamabad to inspect and review the power supply arrangements ahead of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) conference 2024. Mr. Altaf Khokhar Executive Engineer and Mr. Hafiz Ali Ashraf SDO Red zone briefed the senior officers at site. This visit was aimed to ensure that all necessary power infrastructure and systems are in place to guarantee uninterrupted electricity supply during the event, given its international significance and high-profile nature. @Rashidlangrial In my opinion, areas where govt invested in power system improvement and investment in governance in last 30 years has less losses, whereas very less investment done in kpk, sindh and balochistan as compared to punjab. You may formulate map of investment done by govt like above.

Geography of Power Theft: inter-district distribution of delinquency Active disclosure of information is at the heart of any meaningful debate over the issues that plague our polity today. You have seen such disclosure before and you will see it again. What is common between Layyah and Haripur ? Why Kohat and Sukkur are in the same band? Why Tharparkar is almost like Kasur ? Why roughly a hundred billion is lost in 15 blue districts alone? Anthropologists, economists, behaviour scientists and governance specialists are welcome to enlighten us on what drives the differentials.

Today we will declare town of Mardan a load-shedding free city. This has been possible because of massive success in curtailing power theft (from 43 % to 13 %) and by improving recovery rate ( from 85 % to 101 %). Aggregate transmission and commercial losses have come down from 51 % 12 %. What did we do ? a) whole-of-the-Government approach was adopted. Full support of district administration and district police was secured. b) Extraneous influence, political or otherwise was eliminated. c) Reshuffling of staff was undertaken to break the collusion networks. d) Local reform champions were found; DC Mardan and AC Mardan in this case. e) regular rigorous monitoring at the level of Federal Secretary was undertaken. f) Reiterative approach was adopted; learning-by-doing was the core value. g) citizen monitors were identified with care, were trained and notified. I congratulate Team Mardan !!!

@MoWP15 Young Engineers and Officers should come up and convene meetings, commence candid discussions, draft resolution. This can also be done with the participation of selected retired officers.

The Minister for energy emphasised the importance of think-tanks and policy research and urged the participants to establish more of these in the future. He highlighted prospects of consumer power and industrial benefits of the research.

Interim Minister for Energy @magmmz delivered a keynote address at @Cfasocietypak. The Minister focused on the energy sector, the overall issues of the country and left a message at the end. He said that despite challenges there is a lot of investment potential in Pakistan.

@MoWP15 iv) how can we make a compatible distribution system parallel to the developed countries? v) how can we illiminate or at least curtail corruption free organization? LESCO can play a pivotal leading role for other DISCOs by making this company as a Mini-Wapda company.

@MoWP15 This is a dire need to address the issues and reforms of the energy sector. Such reforms should comprise up i) how can we remove the burden from the government's shoulders? ii) how can we reduce line losses? iii)can we provide delighted customer service with quick response units?

@MoWP15 Officers Association and Unions should draft and move a joint resolution to the President of Pakistan, Prime Minister of Pakistan through M/O Energy (Power Divn),Finance, Planning and Privatization with strong justifications / proposals to take the charge of the LESCO Management.
