@andrewchen Facts, been moving any and all excel models to code. Will likely be 100% out of Excel in a few months, may still make sense for drill down or reporting for people who want it, but this is the future

prediction re the end of spreadsheets AI code gen means that anything that is currently modeled as a spreadsheet is better modeled in code. You get all the advantages of software - libraries, open source, AI, all the complexity and expressiveness. think about what spreadsheets actually are: they're business logic that's trapped in a grid. Pricing models, financial forecasts, inventory trackers, marketing attribution - these are all fundamentally *programs* that we've been writing in the worst possible IDE. No version control, no testing, no modularity. Just a fragile web of cell references that breaks when someone inserts a row. The only reason spreadsheets won is that the barrier to writing real software was too high. A finance analyst could learn =VLOOKUP in an afternoon but couldn't learn Python in a month. AI code gen flips that equation completely. Now the same analyst describes what they want in plain English, and gets a real application - with a database, a UI, error handling, the works. The marginal effort to go from "spreadsheet" to "software" just collapsed to near zero. this is a massive unlock. There are ~1 billion spreadsheet users worldwide. Most of them are building janky software without realizing it. When even 10% of those use cases migrate to actual code, you get an explosion of new micro-applications that look nothing like traditional software. Internal tools that used to live in a shared Google Sheet now become real products. The "shadow IT" spreadsheet that runs half the company's operations finally gets proper infrastructure. The interesting second-order effect: the spreadsheet was the great equalizer that let non-technical people build things. AI code gen is the *next* great equalizer, but the ceiling is 100x higher. We're about to see what happens when a billion knowledge workers can build real software.

Mockup of how would @AnthropicAI's new labor automation chart would've looked 200 years ago. For our ancestors, the outer ring would be almost unrecognizable. "Computer & math" was nonsensical. Medicine and law were tiny and barely professionalized. The first photo was just about to be taken, so it would have been unfathomable to have a single blockbuster gross more than the entire gross national product of that period. "Office & admin" barely existed as a concept; counting-houses employ a tiny literate class. Agriculture alone consumed maybe 70-80% of the labor force in the US. There was a thick band of artisanal trades that don't map onto any single modern category: coopering, blacksmithing, weaving, tanning, milling. Clergy was a major professional category and Maritime labor was its own significant sector.

Testing reveals Vital Farms eggs contain more linoleic acid than canola oil A polyunsaturated fatty acid known to promote inflammation. The report found that 23.5% of the fats in a Vital Farms egg are linoleic acid, which is higher than the 19% found in canola oil. Since selling to BlackRock, Vital Farms has switched their feed from pasture forage to a soy blend. To support growing sales, all their 575 family farms now rely on this supplemental soy feed. When eggs are labeled as pasture-raised, this might now mean they are fed soy and kept in cages with only temporary access to pasture. Unfortunately, this situation is all too common with brands that sell out. We created the Oasis app to test and show you what's really inside what you eat

TRUMP: "If we don't do it, Russia or China will take over Greenland, and we're not going to have Russia or China as a neighbor. Okay?" "I would like to make a deal the easy way. But if we don't do it the easy way, we're going to do it the hard way." "I'm a fan of Denmark...but, you know, the fact that they had a boat land there 500 years ago doesn't mean that they own the land." "NATO's got to understand that. I'm all for NATO. I saved NATO. If it weren't for me, you wouldn't have a NATO right now."

I've never bought into the idea of a fixed TAM. Instead of fighting over a piece of the pie, what if we grow the pie instead? What if we focused on collaboration instead of competition? Introducing the Shopify Product Network. Now, when a customer searches your store for something you don't carry, they’ll see personalized product recommendations from other brands. They add to cart and check out on your store. A customer who should’ve bounced…now a buyer. But here’s the part I’m most excited about. This network works both ways. You can opt in for your products to appear on other merchants’ stores too. That means new visibility, new customers, and new surfaces for discovery that didn’t exist yesterday. The best brands in the world are building on @Shopify. If you have a product gap, chances are another merchant can fill it. Now, there's benefit to you both when that happens.
