Republican @SenatorLankford tells me the immediate opposition to his bill is curious. “Quite frankly, I was surprised at some folks that said, ‘It’ll take me days and weeks to be able to read through the bill,’ yet within a few minutes they tweeted out their opposition.”

Texans urgently need action on border security. But once again, Ted Cruz is choosing cynical partisan politics over doing what’s best for Texas. My statement on the Senate’s bipartisan deal to improve border security:

🚨BREAKING: We outraised Ted Cruz last quarter! The momentum behind our historic, record-breaking campaign is proof that Texans are ready for fresh ideas and new leadership. Together, we are going to elect a Senator who fights for our freedoms and brings us together.

As a civil rights lawyer, I’ve always believed no one should be discriminated against because of who they are, how they identify or who they love. I’m proud to earn @HRC’s endorsement. As Senator, I’ll work to ensure LGBTQ+ Texans can chase their dreams free from discrimination.
