@asiimwe4justice Uncle Ben! His voice still echoes in mind every time I sit at St. Francis. In a deep voice, he would say, “The Lord is here.” And we would all respond, “His Spirit is with us.”… That man of God nurtured my young spiritual life through the entire primary school. HBD Asiimwe.

Held, Then, and Still…. “You were my first and I didn’t know what to expect. When the time came, I checked into hospital. I was in labor for two days. On the third day, the doctor had to pull you out. You were getting weak and tired in the womb. After I delivered you, you had to be taken to the neonatal intensive care for observation.” And thus began my life 56 years ago… Today, I chose to spend my birthday by having lunch with my parents. I am deeply aware that it is no small gift to still have both of them here, to sit across from them, to listen, to laugh, to remember. And for a moment, it felt like we were back there again. Just the three of us. At the very beginning. I celebrate them today For loving me. For worrying about me. For praying for me. For chastising me. For cherishing me. For leading me. For celebrating me. For being there for me through every single one of my 56 years. And today… they prayed over me again. There is something deeply grounding about being reminded where you come from. There is a pricelessness about being held, not just at the beginning of life, but all the way through it. At 56, I begin here: Held. Grounded. Ready. #GratitudeAndGrace #FamilyAndFoundation #56AndBecoming

@julius50940 @TimKalyegira This information gives a better perspective of things today. The fees ratio then to the teacher’s salary is 1:1. Comparatively, the same teacher today earns about Ugx 500K. The fees is about Ugx 2M bringing the ratio 4:1. Conclusion. A primary teacher today won’t afford Ntare.

@TimKalyegira In 1981 when I was joining the school fees at Ntare was 650/= and we were given all the stationary plus bathing soap. My dad, a primary school each was earning 600/= per month.

In 1975, school fees per term at Ntare School in Mbarara were 250 shillings. I saw this on my uncle's fee slip. Adjusted for inflation, 250 shillings of 1975 is about 38,000 shillings in 2026. When we say life is very expensive today, it's not just grumbling. It really is.

@EjaluJohn @YN_BUDDU @aqramist My brother, no one is disputing her merit; she deserves her position. The point is that a system shaped over 40 years to favor a certain region inevitably limited others, so potential “Akellos” were alienated long before the competition even began. That’s the logic.

@Ikonyat @YN_BUDDU @aqramist Bro, I know what she's saying. "A system built for a long time favors certain individuals." This is a nebulous proposition. In this case we have a specific individual and known career. How has the system benefitted her in particular? Or are you saying merit cannot apply to her?

Stop gaslighting Ugandan women. Is she really the only qualified media personality? Yes, she’s worked hard, but so have MANY others. Her position is thanks to an ethnocracy/KAAROKARUNGYICRACY that controls access&visibility in Uganda. That doesn’t give her the right to pontificate

Social media is funny 😄 A struggling single mother lectures someone with a stable family. Someone who can’t afford even one meal a day insults a bank manager on how to manage his finances . A lawyer advises a doctor on how to handle body organs /1

@EjaluJohn @YN_BUDDU @aqramist John, what @YN_BUDDU is saying is that a system built for a long time favors certain individuals irrespective of whether where they work supports or opposes that system, in fact it would be in system’s best interest to have their own work in an opposing entity. I hope this helps!

@AKasingye Afande Kasingye, you raise very valid points. Firstly, no banks want to finance SMEs owned by Ugandans. Secondly no bank be it UDB can give a loan to a Ugandan without collateral however brilliant an investment idea is. In short no one finances startups in Ug. I’ve been there.

#UnpopularOpinion #670. On Thursday, I visited the Namanve Industrial Zone to make a Security Risk Assessment Survey for my new client. I realized that most factories & industries are owned by Indians & Chinese. Why can’t Ugandans go to China or India, buy the same equipment & start these industries? We can get development or commercial competitive loans for a good grace period. Why do we go there to look for jobs instead of creating them? Why don’t Ugandans like to operate in silos or partnerships if they can’t afford these establishments alone? C’mon. We spend a lot of time talking about tribes in government offices who earn not more than 3m a month as if this is the best thing to happen to us. We can own these companies, factories or industries. It’s possible.

@0bendeozledim What this basically teaches, is that there are people who are like magnets, they attract. One needs to have the wisdom to identify them. Don’t move with the crowd, or else you will be left alone. Very few are genuine and true friends. Respect that one friend who sticks by.

China just turned the night sky into a masterpiece of precision and intelligence. 🌌 What struck me most about this is how seamlessly innovation turns into art. A drone show in Chongqing just broke the Guinness World Record with 11,787 synchronized drones, creating breathtaking 3D animations that looked closer to CGI than real life. No human pilots. No delays. No crashes. Every movement guided by AI and GPS, choreographed with perfect timing. To me, this is far more than a light show. It’s a glimpse into how technology, creativity, and coordination can merge to shape a new era of expression and innovation. When intelligence takes flight, it doesn’t just illuminate the sky — it redefines what’s possible. Could this be the moment where technology begins to turn the world itself into its stage? #AI #Innovation #Technology #Drones #Automation #Creativity #China #Engineering #FutureOfWork #DigitalArt Credits: longliveai

@SahinNulu @CanaryMugume Actually 150K makes a lot of sense if you come to think of it. It will attract numbers. Profit margins are in numbers. One of the airlines I use frequently, Indigo, has succeeded because of low prices. I’ve paid as low as UGX 80,000 to fly a distance equivalent to Entebbe–Mombasa

@DuncanAbigaba … Calls are never picked up. To reschedule, I’ve had to send someone to the Uganda Airlines office in Uganda. Most recently, one of their foreign offices would only assist after confirming I had failed to do it online. Btw rescheduling is at a cost and not free as you had noted.

@DuncanAbigaba Duncan here. My honest opinion: Ug Airlines needs major improvement. Ethiopian was my favorite until our own came in, and for the past two years I’ve mostly flown Ug Airlines. Unfortunately, rescheduling has never been smooth. The WhatsApp line is useless—no responses…
