@ZachLangleyNBA This team was playing loose and easy with no pressure for two months. And they played great. Whatever they did to exceed expectations was gravy. Then they were up 2-1 to the Knicks in the playoffs, which put them at the center of a national media firestorm, and they collapsed.

This is the kind of performance that makes you forget everything this group has built since the beginning of March. They're still in an objectively great spot as an organization, but this game has been that bad. Everyone needs to try their best to remember how young most of these guys are, myself included.

@ceejaytalksball Jalen needs to be more aggressive. He can't pass up one man in the lane or an open three for a pass around the horn that ends up in Dyson's hands. He needs to have faith in himself and believe that he can make a play.

@RedWhiteBlueJew A sinister irony hides in these bad-faith debates over defining antisemitism. Those complaining loudest ignore that the term was coined to mean "hatred of Jews" by people who hated Jews, then attack Jews for misappropriating the meaning of Semite. It's subversive antisemitism.

Time to Debunk the Antisemitism Myth: Yesterday somebody tried to claim that the Keffiyah wearing, terrorist supporting, flat-earther Kyrie Irving was a Semite. NEWSFLASH, Kyrie Irving is not a Jew. Ergo, he is not a Semite. Semites are not people who speak Semitic languages. At NO POINT is that what that word means. Antisemitism is a relatively new word, only two centuries old. And it was coined SPECIFICALLY to other Jews and make Jews scientific targets for hate. The man who coined the term was Wilhelm Marr. In 1879, this German agitator published pamphlets like “Der Sieg des Judenthums über das Germanenthum” (The Victory of Judaism over Germanism). He used “Semitismus” interchangeably with Judentum—straight-up meaning Jewry and Jewishness. Marr founded the Antisemiten-Liga (League of Antisemites) to push a so-called “racial” struggle between Germans and Jews. There was never any intent to include Arabs, Assyrians, or other speakers of Semitic languages. “Antisemitism” was just a fancy, pseudoscientific euphemism for plain old Jew-hatred (Judenhass). It replaced cruder terms to sound modern and “scientific” while targeting Jews—and Jews alone—as a people and a “race.” The linguistic term “Semitic” (for languages like Hebrew, Arabic, Aramaic) came earlier from scholars, but Marr hijacked it. There has never been a unified “Semitic race” or peoplehood. That was bogus 19th-century racial pseudoscience from the start. Modern scholarship confirms it: no single Semitic ethnic group exists—only related languages among very different peoples. So when people play the etymology game—“Arabs are Semites too, so they can’t be antisemitic”—it’s pure word games that ignore the actual history and meaning. From Marr onward, through Nazi ideology and into today, “antisemitism” has always meant hostility specifically toward Jews. Period. Stop letting bad-faith actors rewrite the dictionary to shield Jew-hatred. Call it what it is.

I think @Yair_Rosenberg's piece is worth a read and appreciate the thoughtful criticism. I wrote him a longer response (because arguing on here is dumb), but just to summarize: 1) Good corrective to the Einstein story that I fully admit to not knowing in advance, though I'm not sure the full details change Hasan's broader critique of Zionism in a meaningful way (whether or not you agree with it) 2) If I had another hour with Hasan, I absolutely would've focused on his China/Russia views, but thought it was more valuable in this particular discussion to dig in on the controversy at hand than to do a quicker drive-by on all his views and statements. But again, genuinely appreciate Yair's take

Huge win for this core of players. Jalen and NAW didn't have it, but made plays late. Kuminga was raw effort and made s**t happen tonight. And CJ had an all-time playoff game, even if he bricked those two throws late. What a win!

@ASFleischman Lawyering 101. Don’t talk over the judge. Certainly never turn the court into an adversary. Announcing “it wouldn’t be the first time” you’ve been held in contempt is not a badge of honor. While scorning courtroom procedure and decorum won't do a single thing to help your client.

Half my job is driving to random counties whose names I've just learned and asking a judge to reverse a conviction, even though the prosecutor probably baby sat her kids. I don't even mind being home cooked. If a job won't let you speak, you pipe down and file something.

@shevereshtus Agreed. I grew up in an egalitarian conservative shul (where women leyned, etc) and attended orthodox Jewish day school where I did mishmar after school. There's way too much focus about who's right, when all are about loving, engaging with, and learning about our tradition.

Whether they call it “Reform” or “Conservative;” a “Temple” or “Egalitarian prayer space” or a “Community Center,” it doesn’t matter. Whatever theological differences we may have, no matter how massive, when they come for Jews, they come for all Jews. They don’t differentiate.

@shevereshtus Quite the opposite. You are articulate in explaining Jewish tradition and philosophy, and you seem to genuinely try to live your life with chesed.

Sometimes I look at who describe themselves as pro-Israel or pro-Jewish influencers & feel we’re our own worst enemies. And sometimes, I wonder if I’m one of them, too. I don’t think so. I hope not. I really do wish there was more gatekeeping as far as who speaks for us, though.
