@47fucb4r8c69323 I still see these guys but they have no hustle, no drive. They don’t spend any time learning to do the tricks. I’m LESS likely to visit the establishment because of it.

I don't know if this still exists in America, but like 20 years ago businesses would hire guys with signs to stand on corners and wave and twirl the signs around to get attention. If you think about it, the modern-day social media manager is just the digital equivalent of that guy. Except of course it requires a lot more intelligence and technical skill to do that job in the digital age. And so from this you see how technology upscales labor and thus increases the value of the labor that is in demand in the market. The people who get left behind are the idiots, this is why I love technology.

@airkatakana @aryehazan Other things like would you prefer your child work in X, Y, or Z Where Z is not a historically respectable profession And you’re supposed to say you’d be fine with anything

@airkatakana @aryehazan after having children I realized I believed a lot of dumb stuff Like would you prefer your child to be X or Y Where X is the norm and Y isn’t and then you realize that you’re supposed to say you would be equally happy with Y

The Kobeissi Letter@KobeissiLetter

BREAKING: IBM stock, $IBM, collapses nearly -20% after posting weaker than expected earnings due to “weakness in the software and infrastructure business.” The stock just erased -$55 billion in market cap.

@a_musingcat I think what’s amusing is like half (likely more) of the population is huge whiners who have tried nothing and are all out of ideas. There’s nothing new under the sun. We could be talking past each other but frankly it’s not worth straightening it out.

serious question: why do intellectuals have a really hard time relating to how normal ppl think? or how normal ppl would react to certain things? surely their intellectual abilities would allow them to, right? you’d think they would be able to understand why some content might resonate with ppl of not their caliber but yet they often fail to see it & critique portions that ironically resonate the most.
