I have several deadlines coming up, so I figured now was the perfect time to hyper-fixate on the Lorrie storyline in Turnpike's catalog. Here is my current working theory for what order the story progresses through the songs: 🧵

When my sister was postpartum in the winter, she got herself this cutie little yeti. When she would go to bed, she would make sure it was full of hot chocolate and on her nightstand. Then when she woke up to feed her baby, she would have this beautiful little hot chocolate treat waiting for her. She said she actually went to bed looking forward to those night feedings.

Can’t stop thinking about gumbo

One side effect of raising kids who love reading is that their vocabulary makes them sound like old people. Like why is my 6 yo asking me for a boon rn

The people you love and consider the best people on earth? The spouse you would die for? The friends you cherish beyond words? They're mostly just very normal people who happened to be in the same geographic vicinity you were. And you would have found equally wonderful spouses and friends if you'd lived your life in a different area. This doesn't mean that the people you love aren't as wonderful as you think. It means that everyone else is more wonderful than you think. You didn't luck out and find the only saints in a sea of sinners. You found people who just are what people are--sinners who nonetheless are capable of being profoundly loving and beautiful and fascinating. Something that's probably worth considering the more that bitterness consumes our hearts by living our lives online.

@tevordoley22 I’ve been a big fan of her songwriting ever since hearing her song Revival

I think this is a very good record and she’s really honed the skills. More of a mainstream sound, sure but that shouldn’t discredit her voice and the songwriting here
