@impossiblebones

Patriotic atheist and coalmine canary. Detector of bullshit and offender of sacred cows. You’ve been warned. Pronouns are normal/sane.

@shig23 @Danish_SMF Ha! Mr Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. NOT a scientist or philosopher. All mainstream physics and cosmology require significant fine tuning for life as we know it. The puddle is even less provable than the multiverse.

Science can't prove logic. True. But that doesn't make God reasonable by default. Logic is a necessary tool. God is not. You're trying to borrow the epistemic status of logic for God. That doesn't work. 2

@Danish_SMF Thats the problem when people ask for evidence for God and we point them to things that science cant prove using the scientific method. Like logic. Science relies on the laws of logic but cant prove them.

@Danish_SMF Plenty of evidence that the universe began and is finely tuned. I’d say that’s God imposing his will on the physical world. Despite my sincere effort, I’ve never heard a persuasive rebuttal of that evidence. See e.g. recent debate between Stephen Meyer and “Skydive Phil.”

Not as fine-tuned as we think. It's more chaotic but puzzling Yes "I don't know" is a perfectly reasonable response. God may be the explanation you prefer N But calling him the only one is an overstatement the evidence doesn't support.

Scripture says that Adam was the first man. God gives us the age of Adam, and the ages of generations after. From that we can easily extrapolate. that the earth is around 6,000 to 10,000 years old, and much of science backs this up as well.
Jill@Jill14846208

@StandswithGod Where did he say the earth/world was only 6,000 years? Or was that your math extrapolated from the Bible?

@1friendofGod2 I hate to break it to you buddy, but christians have never had any trouble justifying any sin.

Maybe, but I was making the point that without God and therefore, objective morality, you can justify any sin.
wetterdanAfisherman@DarkHabour

@1friendofGod2 I would assume the majority of atheists follow a secular humanist approach. So your statement might not sound how you expected it to sound honestly.

I was making potato soup last night. The recipe called for five potatoes cubed. Even for potato soup, 125 potatoes seems a little excessive.

@BillboardChris I don’t think they’re even capable of understanding that it’s a lie. That’s the problem with oral tradition. It has no concept of a truth independent of the Story. The Story is the only reality to them. They can’t conceive what it means for the Story to be “false”.

@kalezelden Scanning in physical books often involves destroying them, which is really sad. On the plus side, those books are now digitized and will not be lost forever as they might have been had they stayed only physical.

Did you know Anthropic embarked on what they called Project Panama in which they purchased large quantities of rare books, cut off the spines, scanned them, then confetti’ed them? Physical and metaphorical villainy.

Everyone is talking about the inaccurate casting of “white-armed" & "richly tressed” Helen of Troy, but no one is talking about this casting. Homer described King Menelaus as red-haired, flaming-haired, auburn, or tawny at least 16 times in The Iliad. Redhead erasure is real.
