Just because you’re loud doesn’t mean you’re popular. The thugs on Britain’s streets last night tried to shriek and bully us into thinking they had a majority on their side, when the only thing they had on their side was bricks. The rest was noise. They’re a tiny fraction of a country that’s much bigger and more generous than they’ll ever be.

So even though you could almost throw a stone between the source of the two streams near the summit of Beinn nam Fuaran, the two water courses end up meeting the sea 140 miles apart. One near Oban (River Awe) one at Dundee (River Tay). A fascinating if niche study! (6/6)

Well, it’s because the fence marks the boundary of Perth & Kinross and Argyll & Bute. Why, you might ask, does the boundary of these two unitary authorities run down the slope of a hill in the middle of nowhere? Well, because since historic times rivers have been used (3/6)

What has the ECHR ever done for us? Quite a lot actually, and we wrote it too.

Just been informed that the Hillingdon Returning Officer rejected both my and my wife's postal votes in the local elections because he didn't like our signatures. They were our signatures. What is going on? And has anyone else been treated in such a cavalier way?

@nigetassell It’s a beautifully curated collection Nige. Eclectic to some, core to many. A lovely addiction. Keep going. ‘Hotter than a pepper sprout’ ? .. just saying @CulpaFeliks

Today's publication puts me into double figures. Ten books in eleven years. I only intended to write one. It's become the healthiest of addictions.

@Samfr ‘The hole to dig us out’ - what does that even mean? This is the work of an ex government minister and ‘qualified’ barrister with the assistance of a national newspaper sub-editor. God help us.

Forgive the length of this thread ⏳. It's about how covid changed the way many of us live. In my case, for the better. It is four years ago, to the day, that @talksport bigwig @lauriepalacio called me into a small office. He had a serious look on his face...

But David. Surely with all that extra NHS money that Brexit was going to deliver (remember the bus) you should be proud of it all. Not to mention the amazing deal you helped BJ get. You incompetent charlatan. How you have the nerve to pontificate about anything is beyond me.
David Frost@DavidGHFrost

Indeed. I'm not proud of the NHS, I'm embarrassed and ashamed about it. It's now one of the most expensive systems in the developed world, as a share of GDP, yet delivers some of the worst outcomes. It's going to have to change to a European-style insurance system - the only question is when, and therefore how many people have to die unnecessarily before that happens.

Three years ago, @bathpublishing were the only people who would take on the legal and financial risk of publishing a book about The Great Post Office Scandal. Now they're being interviewed by the BBC. David, Helen and Hannah have been wonderful. I wish them every success.
Jenny Linford@jennylinford

. @bathpublishing were so horrified by #PostOfficeScandal victims' stories, they felt compelled to publish @nickwallis's book; the small publisher 'was the "only one willing" to take on the book at that time, author Nick Wallis said.' @bathpublishing 👏 bbc.com/news/uk-englan…
