It’s wild we can make a car battery to last hundreds of miles hauling a 2800lb vehicle. We can’t make a laptop battery that last 2 hrs without a cord.

We can have some patience for random Twitter accounts who don't understand that more GST from spending on one thing usually means less GST from spending on other stuff. But surely Hipkins knows better.

The government's current GST take only increases with higher fuel prices if people shift from spending on things that don't draw GST (but GST is comprehensive), or if people save less (reducing future GST take). C'mon.

@drchrispook @RusselNorman Constant scaremongering from certain people are turning others off alternative energy sources. It’s created a opposite reaction where people are actively making decisions that are counter to these people. E.g. NZ First supporters.

It cannot be repeated enough that we need to rapidly decarbonise our economy, particularly transport. This has benefits for climate change as well as energy resilience. Policy support for more buses, trains, ferries; protected cycleways; safe walking; e-bikes; e-cars; e-trucks.

@BigWaffal @ClownWorld Not exactly, the op is just misleading. Concrete is green so only just poured. If I had to hazard a guess contractor didn’t put mesh as per design. Engineer or client has pointed out and they are attempting to breakout before concrete cures otherwise heavier machinery needed.

Contractor pours a brand new sidewalk and finishes the job, then the owner refuses to pay saying there’s no rebar. So the contractor tears it out himself. After putting in the labor, time, and materials, not getting paid isn’t something most people are just going to accept, especially when rebar isn’t even required for most sidewalks

@ClownWorld Depends. Was the design to have rebar (likely mesh) in the path? Did the client ask for rebar? The concrete is very green given the way it’s being pick axed so only just been poured. I’d say likely contractor hasn’t followed instructions.
