CSIR-Central Road Research Institute New Delhi, in collaboration with CSIR-Indian Institute of Petroleum Dehradun, has developed and transferred an innovative Bio-Bitumen technology based on pyrolysis of agricultural biomass. Technology transfer agreements signed today in the presence of Hon'ble Minister of Agriculture and Farmer's Welfare Sh Shivraj Singh Chouhan (@ChouhanShivraj ) between CSIR and industry partners including Bitumix India LLP (Assam), GK 91 Bioeconomy Pvt Ltd (Maharashtra), Jainsons India (Uttar Pradesh), Straw Biofuels (Punjab), Torchtar Membranes & Bitumen Products Pvt Ltd (New Delhi) & others—converting crop residue into wealth, reducing stubble burning, and promoting green road construction. A perfect example of innovation -led, industry-driven solutions for #WasteToWealth & #AtmanirbharBharat.

At the ‘Bio-Bitumen Technology Transfer’ event organised by the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research #CSIR, felicitated farmers from across the States. They are the agriculture pioneers adopting new technologies like these, generating income by turning waste to wealth, and also creating awareness among other farmers about such wonderful indigenous innovations.

On #InternationalDayOfZeroWaste, the spotlight is on food waste. Nearly 1 billion tonnes of edible food is wasted every year, with households accounting for almost 60%. My Address at the  "Planet C3 Summit on Climate, Circularity and Community":  Takeaways: "Clean energy agenda spans a wide spectrum, from securing critical resources such as lithium and rare earth-based permanent magnets to scaling up domestic manufacturing, accelerating innovation, and introducing new policy interventions. Energy security remains central to India’s technological growth, particularly in the context of emerging sectors such as Artificial Intelligence, which require a reliable and continuous source of power supply like nuclear energy. The @narendramodi government is accelerating clean energy transition with focus on indigenous capacities and indigenous technologies.   Collaborative model engaging government and private sector imperative to gain momentum".

A powerful exchange of ideas, indeed it was, at the Outlook “Planet C3 Climate + Circularity + Community Summit”, where policy met purpose for a sustainable future. Organised by the “Outlook”.

International crude prices have gone through the roof in the last 1 month from around 70 dollars/barrel to around 122 dollars/barrel. Consequently, petrol and diesel prices for consumers have gone up all over the world. Prices have increased by around 30%-50% in South East Asian countries, 30% in North American countries, 20% in Europe and 50% in African countries. The Modi Government had two choices- either increase prices drastically for citizens of Bharat as all other nations have done or bear the brunt on its finances so that Indian citizen is insulated from international volatility. Hon’ble Prime Minister @narendramodi Ji, in keeping with his Government’s commitment of last 4 years since the conflict in Russia-Ukraine started, decided to take a hit on its own finances again to safeguard the Indian citizen. Government has taken a huge hit on it taxation revenues to ensure very high losses of oil companies (approximately 24 Rs/litre for petrol and 30 Rs/litre for diesel) at this time of sky high international prices are reduced. At the same time, export tax has been levied as international prices of petrol and diesel have skyrocketed and any refinery exporting to foreign nations will have to pay export tax. My gratitude to Hon’ble PM Narendra Modi Ji and Hon’ble FM @nsitharaman Ji for this very timely, bold and visionary decision!

In the midst of the ongoing turmoil, PM Sh @NarendraModi has once again risen to the occasion by taking a highly courageous and sensitive decision to reduce the excise ​duty on petrol ⁠to Rs 3 per litre from Rs 13 per litre and on diesel to Nil (Zero) from Rs 10 per litre respectively, thereby bringing a huge relief to the common man. Just as during the Covid pandemic, India had set an example for the rest of the world, in the present times also, PM Modi has shown the way.

Returning to my alma mater, Madhav Institute of Technology & Science (MITS), Gwalior, after nearly four decade for addressing the inaugural session of the 4th International Student Conference on Multidisciplinary and Current Technical Research, was a deeply nostalgic and emotional experience. Walking through the transformed yet familiar campus brought back countless memories of my days and lifelong friendships.

The event was attended by Dr. Sandeep Sharma, Managing Director, Deloitte Consulting @DeloitteIndia; Dr. R.K. Pandit, Vice Chancellor, MITS-DU and Dr. Manjaree Pandit, General Chair & Pro Vice Chancellor, MITS-DU, along with faculty members and enthusiastic young students. It was inspiring to witness the remarkable transformation of the institute under its current leadership, both in terms of academic excellence and infrastructure.

The energy and curiosity of the students reaffirmed that we are living in exciting times for science, technology, and innovation in India, which is nurturing a generation that is shaping the future through knowledge, research and innovation. I also visited IoT, AR/VR and Robotics labs in a new and modern building. It was also a pleasure to meet MITS Alumni Association members and my friends from college days Mukesh Bansal.
