@DLHappens @Homeschool_LLC Not offended - I wonder why you take disagreement as offence? It's simply that your insistence on judging other people by their family structures rather than the content of their characters is, ans always has been, tiresome.

@DLHappens @Homeschool_LLC 'Broken home students'? 😬😬 I'm a graduate of two of the UK's best universities, a teacher... and the daughter of a single parent. The only things other kids were going to 'catch' off me were good grades, solid character and ambition.

I homeschooled with a GED, put my kid in the 8th at 12, could have entered the 10th, she tested at a college level and went into GT classes. She also tested out of Algebra II in the 8th, didn't have to take any more math test, and graduated in the front row. 🤷 The worst thing about public school is the culture of kids who live with parents not under your control who will expose nonsense to your child. Plus they are being prayed on by groomer gangs run through small businesses, and there are many teachers trying to to sexualize kids as part of cults. Keep your kids away from broken home students as what they carry is catchy and will interfere with the progress and future of your children. Those who don't fight for their kids just know you are the reason they turn out messed up. 🖕

@levijvmes @d4w5pjyqgz @kaseyklimes @moseskagan That's such a strange parental attitude though. If you make the choice to be a parent, that is you making a lifelong commitment to the baby you chose to bring in to the world. Not you chucking them out at 18 to sink or swim 🤷‍♀️

@indifferent_red @d4w5pjyqgz @kaseyklimes @moseskagan yeah i’ve heard it from a couple people here but it wasn’t a happy or active choice more so “i literally cannot afford to move out even if i tried and my parents despise me still being in their house” situation

Don't mean to be too harsh, but: Life is passing this person by, while she's sitting around her parents' house at 31, waiting for the perfect opportunity. If she had chosen *almost any full-time job* and worked reasonably hard at it between '21 & today, she would be *so* much better off.

@levijvmes @d4w5pjyqgz @kaseyklimes @moseskagan Yep, I think it is US centric. I'm in the UK, and managed to buy a house on my own this last year because I had the chance to save on rent by living with my mum. I don't think you hear of this same attitude in the US.

@d4w5pjyqgz @kaseyklimes @moseskagan i figured it was a US centric problem but i didn’t want to say that then be totally incorrect! and wholeheartedly agree there, my mom was the “get out once you’re 18” which is funny bc she’s 45 still going back and forth with living with her mom!!!

@Floatymcfloater @Tcaffair @MJAL27157258 @LBC Nope. More rental properties means fewer properties available to be purchased. This means that those which are for purchase are more expensive - basic supply and demand. More houses on the market = hopefully prices going down.

'You're going to see more families on the street because the government has not made private landlords feel valued.' Landlady Rebecca had to ask a family who had been in her property for eight years to leave because of 'increasing legislation' and 'cuts to tax relief'.

@Tcaffair @MJAL27157258 @LBC Yes, maybe someone who is currently being exploited as a tenant in the rental market will be able to own and live in their own home. Excellent news.

Unpopular opinion but...I think it's really disgusting that the woke right pushes the idea that a woman's greatest aspiration should be to become a wife and a mother. A woman's greatest aspiration should be whatever brings her a sense of joy and fulfillment. Whatever that may be in her life. I find that one of the greatest parts of life is deciding for oneself who and what we want to be. We each get to decide who we are. To men and women alike...fuck anyone who tries to make you conform to what they want you to be. Be unabashedly and unapologetically who you decide you to be. Chase your hopes and dreams with unapologetic fervor and determination. It's your life. Not anyone else's.

@mystalkerisadik @socdoc100 You get weekends off, right? Days off when you're sick? Holiday time? When does your wife get those things, or is she just expected to be on call all the time?

@socdoc100 Great, and I’m disagreeing with your opinion. No man wants to come home after working 12 hour days to a dirty house with nothing to eat. If you’re at home, that is your job. The same as if you worked outside the house. So do your job.

Serious question: If a husband works full-time and his wife is a stay-at-home mom, should he still help with the dishes? Why or why not?

@KillianHough @ineedanothernap It's a bit infantilising to suggest that, just because OP is a SAHM, she needs to have her choices validated by other adults, isn't it?

My sweet 14 year old niece just told everyone at Christmas dinner that she doesn’t want to “just be a mom,” she wants to “actually do something with her life.” Everyone applauded as I, the homeschool/SAHM, just sat there 🫠

You need to give her a copy of G.K. Chesterton's essay "The Emancipation of Domesticity" and let her read it. Here's a couple of quotes: "Women were not kept at home in order to keep them narrow; on the contrary, they were kept at home in order to keep them broad. The world outside the home was one mass of narrowness, a maze of cramped paths, a madhouse of monomaniacs. It was only by partly limiting and protecting the woman that she was enabled to play at five or six professions and so come almost as near to God as the child when he plays at a hundred trades. But the woman’s professions, unlike the child’s, were all truly and almost terribly fruitful; so tragically real that nothing but her universality and balance prevented them being merely morbid. This is the substance of the contention I offer about the historic female position." "How can it be a large career to tell other people’s children about the Rule of Three, and a small career to tell one’s own children about the universe? How can it be broad to be the same thing to everyone, and narrow to be everything to someone? No; a woman’s function is laborious, but because it is gigantic, not because it is minute. I will pity Mrs. Jones for the hugeness of her task; I will never pity her for its smallness." #link2H_4_0021" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">gutenberg.org/files/1717/171…

@Hamultonne @ReeseAbreishard @CrankyFed In fact, it's almost ridiculously idealistic to believe that humans are capable of kindness, love and compassion towards each other without the threat of eternal damnation....

@jgbgt @melaniedesmith @teaforpterosaur @madameask @lea_la_2eme Or their parents, like my single working mother, could get them a library card at 18 months old and share the joy of books with them from an early age 🤷‍♀️ 'Boredom/deprivation vs. technology' is a false dichotomy and you might consider who benefits from parents falling for it...
