@Gav_Griffiths @drhingram Yep. My Taycan I bought used. Never buy new! Especially electrics. Unfairly they depreciate more than even the panamera. The 911 is the if not the least close to least depreciating car (not unobtainium).

@drhingram My mate bought new one for £100k cash 2 years ago. Reckons it’s worth £40k now (and that’s on the assumption he’ll find a buyer)

The Taycan is great. Especially sport turismo. For similar luxury and performance you are talking about 300k Bentley in equivalent petrol. The fast, quiet luxury what 99% want and need. The sports car is a different proposition. This from someone who is a car enthusiast and owns/owed both and multiples.

All the signs are pointing to the U.S. and Israel launching another huge attack on Iran. I urge President @realDonaldTrump not to do it. This war’s been damaging enough without yet more mayhem being unleashed.

You are describing Singapore. At the other end of the scale is North Korea, which aims to produce 100 per cent of its food. Where would you rather live?
George Davison@George_Davison1

@AnnaClarke_____ @DanielJHannan It sounds counterintuitive right? But all the smart people know that growing less food actually increases our food security ! At a self sufficiency level of 0% we actually reach 100% food security

For context, the guy who drove his car in to a crowd in Liverpool got 28 years. Horrific as it was, nobody died. This guy, however, is good to go.

The Al-Qaeda terrorist and suspected mastermind of the 7/7 bombing in London 2005 in which 52 people were killed and 800 wounded, Haroon Aswat, was released early from psychiatric prison last year “after his schizophrenia improved.” UK judges ruled for his release from psychiatric care, overriding police and security services’ warnings that he was still a massive danger to public security. Aswat was linked via phone contacts with the bombers, had met some of them in Pakistan before the attack and had travelled back to the UK just weeks before the attacks and last the UK on the same morning that the attacks took place. He was arrested in Zambia a few weeks later with bomb-making manuals. The U.S. wanted him extradited for past terrorist offences on their territory but faced legal obstacles from European judges. The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) first blocked his extradition to the USA due to concerns his paranoid schizophrenia would worsen in US prison conditions (breaching human rights against inhuman treatment). After US assurances on care, he was eventually extradited back in 2013. He was sentenced in the USA in October 2015 to 20 years for conspiring to provide material support to al-Qaeda, including helping set up a jihadist training camp in Oregon with Abu Hamza associates. After serving time, he was extradited back to the UK around 2022 and held under the Mental Health Act. Last year, UK judges decided to give him an early release and he is now free in West Yorkshire with just limited monitoring since it was deemed that stricter measures such as being forced to wear an ankle monitor risked worsening his psychiatric status and would be against mental health law provisions.

@gregcello Senior managers don’t need a meddling HR manager to question hiring decisions, impose HR views and cause friction etc. it’s all so inefficient. hR covers for bad managers, imports toxic unrelated practices and throttles efficiency and good managers. It’s a leveller to mediocrity.

There is a very simple reason the Morrisons story is politically dangerous for Labour. It collapses the entire moral story they tell about themselves. Labour wants voters to believe that every tax rise, every employment cost, every regulation and every intervention is really just “standing up for working people”. Then a major supermarket says it is closing around 100 convenience stores, putting hundreds of jobs at risk, and says government policy choices have made returning those stores to profitability even harder. So who exactly is being protected here? The worker whose job is now at risk? The pensioner who loses the local shop? The family that now has less competition nearby? The high street with another shuttered unit? The customer already paying more for food? This is the problem with performative economics. It sounds noble in a speech. It polls well in a focus group. It gives ministers a line to use on television. But businesses do not operate in speeches. They operate in margins. If a shop loses money, it closes. If staff become too expensive relative to revenue, hours get cut. If compliance costs rise, expansion slows. If government keeps treating employers like an endless cash machine, employers eventually protect themselves. And then Labour acts shocked. The phrase from Morrisons should haunt ministers: “Government policy choices.” Not bad weather. Not bad luck. Not vibes. Choices. A choice to make employment more expensive. A choice to raise the cost base. A choice to squeeze the same retailers you then demand must lower prices. Labour cannot keep pretending there is no connection between the policies it announces and the consequences that follow. The bill always arrives. This time it is arriving in the form of 100 shop closures.

Another big rail moment today, as South Western gets its first GBR train. Since coming into public ownership, a new fleet of trains has been rolling out, giving passengers more spacious, comfortable & air conditioned journeys. We're building a railway you can be proud of. 🇬🇧🚆

@WarMonitor3 War with what. Some aging jets, a minesweeper and not even a full strength brigade at war fighting level. Besides. All Russia need do is arrive in groups of 20/30 over the course of a year and they will get houses, fed and paid. It will be Russia vs Afghan again.

Incredibly the British army has started preparations for a potential war with Russia in 2030, doing exercises turning a London underground station into a military base.

@Artemisfornow @MartinTwigs68 It’s all about generating from the ever shrinking pie more and more to redistribute to non-contributors. When we say it’s not a zero sum game; it actually is when you are labour as they don’t understand you can’t tax to growth.

Tax on everything, including the holiday you saved up your taxed income for. Remember when Labour said “The British public believe in fair play: that if you work hard, follow the rules and contribute, government should tread lightly on your life.” That was a lie ‼️

Nine years on from the Manchester Arena terror attack, my thoughts are with those who lost their lives, the survivors, and their loved ones. Last year I was proud to deliver on my promise to Figen Murray to introduce Martyn’s Law, in memory of her son Martyn Hett. Martyn’s Law will help save lives by making sure venues and event spots have clear plans in place and are ready to act if the worst happens.

A perfect symbol of what happens when a country is run by human rights lawyers. The rules are applied, however perverse the outcome. We are importing Russian oil while banning British oil. Why? Because Miliband and Greta and something and mimblewimble.
The Telegraph@Telegraph

Vladimir Putin’s war in Ukraine could receive a £1bn boost after Sir Keir Starmer watered down sanctions on Russian oil, experts have said. The Prime Minister has allowed some imports of diesel and jet fuel derived from Russian crude into the UK following a surge in prices because of the war in Iran. 🔗: telegraph.co.uk/politics/2026/…
