@vicwingly I’ll tell you this: Kevin Nguyen will go where e-dating is the easiest. Kevin will realize that he can duo in 2XKO. Kevin will have multiple avenues to e-date. GG

@Echo_SEMO elden ring and e33 are my top 1 and 2. metaphor seems cool but ive heard its kinda bloated and tedious, esp after e33 which respects ur time so well. should i play it anyway
English

yeah I should've called that out too
It's yet another example of an intentional change that I think is really cool, but not necessarily good. People clearly got sick of it fast, because the courses themselves are so brief. It's on the "great idea but hurts the game" pile, which is MOST stuff the game tries

I'm an omega casual Mario Karter, only really played 64 extensively because I'm old. Played Mario Kart 8 more about a year ago and I genuinely think that game is like, objectively, a top 20 game of all-time. It HAS to be. Even if I'm not personally super into it, the level of polish, variety, detail, everything is off the charts. It just feels like a perfect execution of what these games should be, to the point where the only thing you can do is just push more levels.
World tries to add even more to the perfect formula, but the new ingredients are mostly misses--the open world is AMAZING for kids to explore but there's not much to it. 24 racers is a cool idea but the middle-of-the-pack chaos feels stupid when you drop from 2nd to 18th with a single shell. I guess the trade-off there is you can go 20th to 4th with a Bullet Bill and be excited when the number goes up? Just feels silly. Knockout Tour is awesome online but SUCKS against CPUs, but whatever, that's not the "real game" anyway. All of these spots where World feels like it's doing too much are, thankfully, not detrimental to the core gameplay loop, which is rock-solid as ever.
The open world in particular, I think, is my sorest spot. I think there was a real opportunity here to turn MKW into this unique single-player experience where the player could be encouraged to explore . As-is, they just kinda drop a bunch of crap on the map and say "okay go." Which is fine, Nintendo is clearly into organic exploration and intrinsic curiosity than like, a quest log or collectible tracker, but without real rewards or progression, why even bother? Because it's fun? I guess. You know what else is fun? A battle pass. I recognize Nintendo's approach to open world design is a considered choice and I'm not looking for like, UbiSoft levels of Skittles maps, but I think a little more push would elevate this game to the moon. Kids will love driving around the open desert with their friends. I'm in my 30s and my video games need to be jobs.
I get that they had to mess with the formula, and it gives MKW an identity it wouldn't have otherwise, which is really cool. The game at its core is still phenomenal, it's just tweaking the garnish now, and I think this one kind of misses on what it experiments with. But that's okay! Because it tried! And no matter what, it's always gonna be Mario's Cars baby
One last thing: the soundtrack alone is enough reason to play the game. The quality of the tracks, the nods to the source materials, the way they're implemented organically and persist through menus and exploration, it's unbelievable. I'm still taken aback by how everything looks and sounds in this game.

REVIEW: Clair Obscur Expedition 33
Video games are an art form, and this game proves it.
Clair Obscur Expedition 33 is one of those rare instances where a tiny new studio comes out of nowhere and delivers a game so good that it instantly gets into the GOTY discussion, if you've heard already how good this game is, it is even better than how much people hype it up.
Clair Obscur's gameplay is a blast, the idea of implementing real-time dodging and parrying into a turn based combat system is a stroke of genius and for people who aren't fans of turn based combat, this one change makes Clair Obscur perfect for everyone that I'd recommend it even if you don't like turn-based at all. Traversal is the one aspect of gameplay that's quite basic but that's really a nitpick.
The story of Expedition 33 is an incredible work of art with characters that will forever be engraved into my memory, Gustave, Maelle, Sciel, Lune, Verso, and everybody else in this story that I won't spoil stands out as incredible characters that are incredibly acted, I don't even know how this studio managed to hire Charlie Cox (Daredevil) and Andy Serkis but they do an incredible job as well as the rest of the cast.
I highly recommend going into Clair Obscur as blind as possible as I did, the concept of the story will instantly hook you and I have no doubts that the mystery, twists and ultimate answers will have you thinking deeply about this tale and what it all means even months after you see its ending.
Clair Obscur Expedition 33 is one of the best games of the year, An incredible achievement by a tiny studio that has just cemented itself as one of the GOATs of the industry, whatever they do next, we will be there.
I am rating Clair Obscur Expedition 33 a 10/10 and a strong GOTY nominee that will probably end up winning at The Game Awards later this year, for $50 this is a no-brainer purchase that you should not miss.

mick gordon is missed and the audio mixing for dark ages is off, but finishing move do a decent job. this is one of the standout tracks.
it’s pure metal, whereas Gordon was FUNKY with beat drops. slightly different sound and tone this time.
