This year marks a powerful milestone as we celebrate 10 years of POATE, a journey we have witnessed grow, evolve, and strengthen from its very first edition. Over the past decade, POATE has not only created a platform for engagement, but has consistently positioned Uganda as a premier tourism destination to the world. It has been a journey of progress, innovation, and meaningful connections across the tourism value chain. We celebrate the achievements made, the partnerships built, and equally the lessons learned along the way, each playing a role in shaping a more competitive and visible destination. Ten years on, the story is clear: Uganda continues to rise, and POATE remains a key driver in telling that story to the global audience. #ExploreUganda #Poate2026

@ntvuganda @BukoolaChemical Chemical inputs such as these are affecting soil health, killing useful soul organisms, and impacting climate change. Let's encourage farmers to use organically sustainable methods, and YES, they can be adopted on large scale.

Why dress in crafts not nice Zara shoes? Regardless of health issues, Instead of imported Zara shoes, I chose to wear well-crafted Ugandan shoes made by a young entrepreneur, Mr. Badru, CEO of @OruhuShoes , a growing local brand. Beyond style and comfort, this is about believing in our own people and investing in Ugandan creativity. As the next UOX President, one of my key missions is to empower young people, promote Uganda, support small-scale businesses, and ensure that every voice in our digital community matters. I also appreciate the UOX exhibitions pioneered by Nova. They created a platform for visibility, and under my leadership, we can make them bigger, bolder, and more meaningful for every Ugandan innovator. Leadership is not only about speaking for people it is about creating opportunities that allow people to grow.

Why a T-shirt and not a suit? Since joining the tourism industry in 2023, one thing I have learned is that branding should never be taken lightly. I am part of the distribution of the Team Uganda kits, a brand that promotes patriotism, national pride, and love for our country. I believe if more Ugandans proudly wore Ugandan brands, we would market our country without saying a word. Every shirt becomes a message, every citizen becomes an ambassador, and every moment becomes an opportunity to attract more tourists to Uganda. Sometimes a T-shirt can represent a nation more powerfully than a suit.

I’ve spent the last 8 months in the cocoa export space, facilitating and watching tonnes of beans leave our country and for about 6 months , it felt like progress. Containers moving, deals closing, numbers growing. But the more you sit in that space, the more one question refuses to leave your mind where is the real value going? Because it’s not staying with us. We do the hard part. We grow the cocoa, we harvest, we ferment, we dry… and then we export it. Somewhere else, that same cocoa becomes chocolate bars, cocoa powder, cosmetics, brands products that sell for many times what we earned from the raw beans. That gap is where the real opportunity is and it’s the gap we’ve normalized for too long. When you look at the coffee sector, you start to see a different story emerging. People like @JackieAkampwera of @JadaCoffee and brands like @volcanocoffee1 Coffee led by @GKatabazi , @harvestrumEdge Coffee and @KBarigye made a decision not to stop at the farm gate. They went further into roasting, branding, packaging and building experiences people are willing to pay for. That shift is changing everything in the coffee sector . It created jobs, built identity and most importantly retained value. And I keep asking myself why not cocoa? This is where I am now. After working in exports, I’m turning part of my time and capital to domestic cocoa value addition. Not as an idea but as something practical we can start building immediately. It won’t be perfect. It won’t be big at the start. But it will be ours. I’m looking for young people who are ready to step into this space food scientists who understand processing, creatives who can shape products and anyone willing to invest time, skill or resources into building something meaningful. The plan is : I start by providing about 5tns of cocoa to the team for trial purposes , we learn by doing, we refine the process and we grow from there. Because this is bigger than just a business idea. It’s about shifting how we think. We cannot keep exporting raw potential and importing finished success. We’ve seen what is possible with coffee. Now it’s time to do the same or even better with cocoa. If you’ve been waiting for a sign to build something real this might be it. Let’s create value where it starts. For God and my country

@Uganda_Expozed Now this is maturity and patriotism on display .... pick a leaf! Learn to cover other people's nakedness and don't be the first to pick up a stone at their miscomings... you're equally a young team even if you think otherwise. Uganda’s image is ours to protect at every level!

Cancelling a marathon on the very day it is scheduled after over 1,000 participants have already signed up is deeply unfair and unacceptable. Just imagine the level of commitment involved. People travel from different locations, spend money on transport, book accommodation, and invest heavily in preparation, all with the expectation of participating in the event. Waking up to news of a cancellation at the last minute is not only frustrating but also a complete disregard for their time, effort, and financial investment. Events like the London Marathon and the Two Oceans Marathon have set global standards because they prioritize proper planning, timely communication, and clear contingency measures. For any marathon to grow into a respected international event, organizers must uphold professionalism, accountability, and respect for participants. Anything less risks damaging both the event’s credibility and the destination’s reputation.

The gentleman managed to sell the idea to the Ministry of Tourism (@MTWAUganda), and they bought into it. Dickens Friday had a vision to create something bigger, something that would position Mbarara and the entire Ankole region closer to Uganda’s tourism spotlight so that everyone could benefit. At one point, I personally sat down with him and advised against planning such a major event based on promises from different sources. I believe this may have played out as we feared. We also discussed the importance of building a strong organizing team, but I have often seen him take on almost everything by himself. Today, many people may not fully see or appreciate the incredible effort he has been putting in for Ankole. Let’s keep him in our thoughts and hope he is able to resolve the pending challenges and come back stronger, with better planning for the future.

The Mbarara City Marathon (@MbararaCityGo) may not have gone as planned, but the efforts, vision, and courage exhibited towards the growth of Ankole was top notch. Every great event grows through lessons like these. Next time will be bigger, better, and unforgettable.

Nwoya District — This morning, I joined @Uganetlaw and partners in Nwoya District to commemorate World TB Day, a reminder that the fight against TB remains critical to achieving health justice for all. Tuberculosis continues to be the leading cause of death among people living with HIV, accounting for about one in four HIV-related deaths globally. Ending TB is therefore not optional, it is central to the goal of ending HIV by 2030. As we mark this day, we reaffirm the need for integrated HIV and TB services, increased community awareness, early testing, and timely treatment. No one should die from a preventable and curable disease. Together, we can end TB and move closer to an HIV-free generation. #EndTB #UGANET4SocialJustice
