A new JAMA study raises questions about what full FDA approval really means for nononcology drugs. More than 50% of these drugs, which transitioned from accelerated to regular approval, did so using surrogate endpoints—not direct measures benefits. jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/…

@Prof_IanD Having seen what a stellar clinician you are Ian, I don’t agree with your interpretation. I proactively make this comment to say ‘ it is not clearcut (or I would have said what is the best option), but weighing up YOUR situation, I would make this choice for me/my loved one’

Patients and relatives: please don’t ask me “What would you do if it were your relative?” You are the most important person in my mind when I’m talking to you and I will always do my best for you. It’s offensive to imply I keep some special treatment only for those closest to me.
