A place to catalog my travels to nowhere in particular, what I’m reading, and enjoyable podcasts. Love history, America and of course my family—Beat Navy!

Reinventing myself on X with some of my passions outside of my kids and grandkids. Love Presidential history and history in general. Always looking for something cool and new to see and learn about!

West Virginia has two weird panhandles, and they aren’t accidents. Who knows the history behind them?

True or False: West of the Great Lakes and the Northwest Angle, the 49th parallel forms most of the border between the United States and Canada.

Thanks, Ted Turner (1938 – 2026), for giving us 'Gettysburg' (1993).

@IntoGeo W/O cheating I came up with Brazil, Portugal and of all things Senegal. Of the two remaining, I can't believe I couldn't think of it and the other I doubt would have ever come to mind

A different geography trivia question than the usual: Can you name the five countries whose names end in the letter “L”? No cheating!

Today I traveled through northern Indiana and began to stumble on these gems. Apparently I was traveling thru Fulton County which is known as "the round barn capital of the world". I also found out that Indiana has over 220 but the largest is in Wisconsin. They were only constructed between 1890 and 1920 for the use of dairy farms.

Today on my drive to work in NE Ohio going thru Canton rather than stop at the hall of fame, I chose to stop at the William McKinley tomb. An amazing structure built with private funding is indeed impressive. As you pull into the park, it just jumps up in your face. I had to save the museum and library for another day when I'm not traveling with Ike, but I definitely wasn't disappointed. Enjoy the pix

May be getting back to normal a little and visiting some of America's hidden gems. About a month ago I spent some time in Grand Rapids, MI. And of course my first choice was to visit the Gerald Ford museum. This gem is in a beautiful spot among other museums on the river and is also President Ford's final resting place. Definitely a great visit.

@stats_feed Weddings that are excessive—too much 💰, women give themselves an unbelievable amount of stress planning these things, and it might (sadly) end in a divorce anyway. They don’t have to be bloated like they often are to be special.
