Most SaaS founders spend $3 to acquire a lead that never converts. What if your funnel paid for its own ads on Day 1? That's what a Ladder Funnel does. 🧵Here's the playbook:

@TheCaptainEli What’s the temperature like being in it all the time? I’m guessing you’re using camp mode and running the air con? It’s already quite warm in Italy

Today I’m celebrating one week of living in my Tesla. I’ve owned the Tesla for 12 days and have already covered 2,276 km (1,414 miles). So far I’ve visited two countries: Italy (where I picked up the Tesla) and France. The plan is to travel all across Europe and live in the Tesla for two years. Daily updates with videos and posts keep coming in. The Elon Musk effect is real.

Attempted to write a Steam Engine hype at the era of Industrial Revolution as if it was the age of AI — The steam engine breakthrough is insane right now. Watt’s separate condenser + new GRPO optimization just dropped the 405 hp-class engine. We went from 7 hp → 70 hp → 405 hp+ in basically three years. One machine now does the work of 50+ men or water wheels — nonstop, rain or shine, anywhere. Textile mills, ironworks, everything scaling 5-10x overnight. Productivity exploding. This isn’t incremental. It’s automating physical labor at massive scale. Jobs shifting forever. Society about to look unrecognizable. The Industrial Revolution isn’t coming. It’s here and accelerating faster than anyone predicted. Terrified. Excited. Both. What a time to be alive. 🚂💨

@senkorasic Would be interesting to see that. Counter argument is cognitive load is reduced by rust because there's lots you can do to get shift bug finding to compile time, and the compiler gives great feedback for free.

This feels true. Today, everyone jumps on the AI+Rust bandwagon. Wouldn't be surprised if in 2027 someone publishes a research paper measuring LLM cognitive load due to manual memory management as % perf drop.
David Crawshaw@davidcrawshaw

Why does this matter in 2026? Because agents, just like humans, do better when not distracted. GC makes it easier for humans to solve a problem by not having to track free(). Take that work away from agents and there is more intelligence available to solve your problems.

Would be great if you allow proper editing of landing pages via api and also access to google ads data. I’ve been using Claude code to make lps in hs but it’s a hack of uploading the full html, which means you can’t edit nicely in the hs ui. Also Google ads make it such a pain to get an api key but hs can just pass through. P.s if you have any jobs open to marketing people who have built a lot of agents / workflows / apps with Claude code lmk!

BREAKING NEWS: HubSpot co-founder/CTO buys $1.8M of his own company's shares. Disclosure 1: Yes, I'm that guy. (And no, I'm not used to talking about myself in the third person -- will not make a habit of it). Disclosure 2: This is not investment advice. Please do not buy or sell $HUBS shares based on this. So, why am I sharing this and writing about it? Well, for one, at least in my little world, it's noteworthy. It's been a while since I've bought HubSpot shares (I think it was back in 2022). Also, instead of answering the common questions from friends, family and colleagues, I figured it would be easier and more efficient to just answer them just once, here. 1) Why buy more HubSpot shares? Simple. I'm a big believer in the long-term vision of HubSpot and the team driving it. 2) Why do this now? Hasn't the stock been falling? Yes, the share price has dropped considerably despite what was a pretty strong quarter (results reported publicly last week). We added 10,800 net new customers in the quarter (well above the expected range), growing to about 300,000. Revenue, as reported grew 20%+. 2) Why $1.8M? That's an odd number. I purchased 10,000 shares at whatever the market price was. 3) Isn't HubSpot going to get disrupted by AI and agents? I"m biased, but I don't think so. For AI agents in GTM (marketing/sales/service) to do their work they're going to need a platform that can provide the context they need and a work engine that can take action on their behalf. They need a customer platform they can *operate* to do what they need to do and drive outcomes. They're not going to reinvent/rewrite a CRM. They're way too smart for that (and getting smarter). They're going to use what's out there. They'll bias towards systems that have a great Agentic Experience -- not just a great User Experience. (HubSpot will have both. Headless is great, but we don't think completely humanless is a good idea). 4) I heard that others bought shares on the same day. True? Yes. Our fearless leader Yamini Rangan bought shares. Our board chair Lorrie Norrington bought shares too. 5) It's been almost 20 years since you started HubSpot, why don't you slow down a bit?! (That may or may not have been from my wife). :) Answer: I love HubSpot. I love what I do. I'm a builder at heart. I'm up 2am most nights learning, tinkering and building. There's never been a more exciting time to be a builder and to serve small and medium sized businesses. I think we are going to see *millions* of entrepreneurs start businesses leveraging the power of AI. HubSpot's mission is to help them grow better. If you have other questions, leave a reply. Can't promise to answer all of them because...laws and regulations, but I'll do what I can. Cheers.

In Spain they have a different concept of time - it's based on relationships rather than fixed units of time. I've found it to be very frustrating when I've come in with Northern European expectations of time. Neither approach is "correct" - there are pros and cons of either approach.

yesterday I went to meet my potential new tax advisor in Spain. She had 4.9 stars on google with amazing reviews, that’s why I chose her. The appointment was at 12pm. 12:20: Message from her: “Sorry, I’m finishing with a client. 10 more minutes.” So I waited. 1pm. Still waiting. 1:20. I texted her: “How long? You told me you were finishing.” At 1:30 I left. At 2pm she texted me: “Sorry, I understand why you left. You can come back later if you want.” I replied: “Making someone waste 2 hours of their day is unacceptable. I don’t want a tax advisor like that.” Then she started justifying herself saying she had finished “10 minutes after” I left (not true, I was still there), but even then… that would still mean a 1.5 hour delay for a scheduled meeting. This experience made me realize something: As solopreneurs we often think customer experience is about fancy branding, beautiful offices or polished websites. It’s not. It’s respecting people’s time. Communicating clearly. And not making clients feel trapped in your chaos. If I know I can’t make a meeting, I cancel it. Even if it’s uncomfortable. Because wasting 2 hours of someone’s day is worse.

Tax and accountancy software and bookkeeping industry have perverse incentives to keep the tax code and bookkeeping hard so you have to keep paying a lot for their software and to hire them If they let AI just do it via their APIs, their value woudl go to $0 fast!
Ingmar Bruinsma@Kingmar1991

@levelsio Should not be that hard for companies to provide a pull function. Just that. So you can pull stuff after you've gotten a token from them. I don't see how that is negatively impacting anyone. If I hack your password for your login to download your invoices, that's the same thing.

@levelsio @Pekka_net @grok It used to be that these wrapper companies made it easier to build stuff. Now they make it harder and get in the way because you have to use a UI rather just asking your AI to set up SES for you for example.
