A guy was traveling in the 2AC coach of the Rajdhani Express from Hyderabad to Bengaluru. At around 9:30 PM, a cleaning staff member started going around the coach, even waking sleeping passengers to ask for money as tips. Instead of paying, the passenger quietly filed a complaint through RailMadad. Just 10 minutes later, the same cleaning staff member was standing in front of him again. But this time, not to ask for money he was pleading with the passenger to withdraw the complaint. That's when it started to feel like this might not have been a one off incident, but a regular tip collection racket. The Railways responded quickly, and the concerned official assured that the employee would be counseled, and could even face a fine. But one question still remains Is it acceptable for railway staff to wake up passengers and ask for tips ? And should RailMadad introduce an anonymous complaint option so passengers do not have to face the same staff member again after reporting an issue ?
