I'd hate for someone to have my name and number when I don't want them to have that info... Kinda the same way Rogers, Telus, and every damned company instantly sells your personal info to every fool on the face of the planet getting you bogged down by spam calls. If only I were in government... and could pressure regulations to prevent this kind of thing and protect the people I governed... Awkward.
Naheed Nenshi@nenshi

Every Albertan should be shocked by the news of one of the largest data breaches in Canadian history, involving their personal information allegedly being used by separatists and their leaders. This is invasive. It is dangerous. And it puts Albertans at risk. Any political party involved should be immediately deregistered and have its access to sensitive personal voter data revoked. We trust the RCMP and Elections Alberta will investigate and prosecute this to the fullest extent of the law, and ensure there are real consequences for anyone involved in putting Albertans at risk.

Overwhelmingly the case that "locals don't want to work" means "I don't want to pay a wage that attracts locals". Sorry, no business is entitled to cheap foreign labour as a subsidy. If it can't profit while paying a wage that attracts local workers, it shouldn't survive
Sarbjit Kaur@sarbjitkaur1

New program is a start but just this morning a friend was complaining he can't find workers. For his Landscaping build business in GTA. He said the locals don't wanna work and everyone else leaving. Everyone here working, not a criminal - should have a chance at PR.

My wife and I have been getting quotes for our 12x10 deck. Cedar wood, not even composite, is $9,000–$12,000, and we’ve received 5 bids. Is owning overrated? Or is it worth it in the end?

They're also planning to amend mortgage insurance rules to include triplexes and fourplexes. CMHC construction program currently requires a minimum of 5 doors.

The Federal Government intends to “Amend mortgage insurance rules to permit private mortgage insurers to offer multi-unit mortgage loan insurance on 5-8 unit residential properties to promote competition and offer lenders more choice.” Looks like they're trying to derisk CMHC from Alberta multiplexes.

Let's take a moment to appreciate just how brilliant Cenovus’s move was last year to step in and acquire MEG considering everything we know today... Not only did they got it done, but with everything we know today, this unique asset is going to be 150,000 bbl/d. At that level, the acquisition could easily pay for itself in under 5 yrs, based on a $30 USD netback and >4 Billion !! barrels of reserves at >85% of the project area still to be developed over the next 30+ years. Unbelievable. Good work. 🫡🪒

Back in 2008, I’d ride the elevator into work hearing the same thing every day: “More layoff news.” That recession was brutal. But what’s building now feels bigger than a 90s Toronto real estate crash. This could be the kind of reset people only talk about once in a century.

I don’t know everything about everything, but I do know a lot about one specific area. My core expertise is in Canadian heavy oil production, with strong emphasis on numerical modelling and technology development. I’ve mostly worked for major companies, where I played a significant role in technology integration. I’ve won several cool awards for my inventions. Many entrepreneurs really loved or really really ! hated me as I was "the filter" between them getting funding...or not... I also served as a board observer for a fusion company, a bitumen upgrading company, a water treatment company, and a cool pipeline integrity monitoring company. Many years of field-testing new technologies...full of sweat, tears, and occasional success-taught me a great deal. Why am I saying all this? Because on Twitter we are all democratically equal. Everyone has views and opinions, and we allocate our capital accordingly. That said, one thing I have no doubt about is that many people on here are “dumb money.” They often don’t truly understand what they own or why they own it. They are frequently blind to their own blindness and OVERCONFIDENT in opinions on topics they understand very little about, despite believing otherwise. The reality is we need these people. We need their capital to be deployed so entrepreneurs can try new technologies...and sometimes fail. Arguing with them is usually a waste of time. 🫡🪒

@ShaneWenzel Goldwyn is the sprawliest of sprawl, leapfrog style, as is the easterly spread to Chestermere . The ease of the spread diminishes the attractiveness of brownfield. City also is a huge boat anchor on brownfield vs sprawl. The biggest companies choose sprawl vs brownfield.

Brownfields languish because of red tape and costs, not new neighborhoods, or your definition of "sprawl." Calgary builds one sequential community after another, each paying massive levies upfront. Those new homeowners then pay full property taxes to maintain aging infrastructure elsewhere. Growth isn't a burden; it’s the city’s life support. The math says it’s double taxation. For reference, I’ve included a picture of actual sprawl.
