BREAKING: Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson says Iran will reciprocate attacks on its infrastructure by targeting similar infrastructure owned by the US or related to it. This is a direct response to Trump naming Tuesday as “Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day” for strikes on Iran. Iran has now publicly committed to symmetric retaliation.

@AlfredT27518342 @frontierindica So they should be deprived of learning a language just because its similar? Also Gujarati's script are not similar to Devnagari. Only Hindi and Marathi are similar. And someone in either language may want to learn Sanskrit as well.

This is just state-mandated busywork for kids who are already overburdened. No one's career was ever made by their third language proficiency. The real kicker is that English has been reclassified as a "foreign language" under this framework; the one language that actually gives a kid from a Tier-3 town a shot at upward mobility, and we're structurally making it harder to prioritize. If only one language had to be mandatory it should be English. At max, two: English plus your local language. The third should be optional.

🚨 Breaking News: CBSE will make a third language compulsory from Class 6 starting the 2026-27 academic session.

The increase in oil prices in Pakistan is not because of only Strait of Hormuz. Its also because their “unofficial” source of oil is gone.

So true. What we might think is impossible now, might become possible sooner than we can anticipate. For me, it was the last one (5 years ago people thought competing with Google in search was impossible).
The Kaipullai@thekaipullai

200 years ago, people thought travelling at 60 kmph was impossible 150 years ago, people thought flying was impossible 100 years ago people thought speaking to each other across continents was impossible 85 years ago, people thought a bomb that can destroy an entire city was impossible 70 years ago landing on the moon was impossible 50 years ago people thought instant messaging from Antartica to the Arctic was impossible 40 years ago people thought knowledge of any subject that too for free, at the click of the button was impossible 35 years ago, people thought a communication device that would fit in your pant pocket but can connect you with anyone in the world, was impossible 30 years ago, people thought a 1 TB hard drive which is less than the size of a thumb, was impossible 25 years ago, people thought watching a movie on a device that would fit in your pant pocket, was impossible 20 years ago, people thought making a million dollars by making goofy faces on a camera was impossible 10 years ago, people thought writing an entire working software application, complex code, generating images and videos by simply typing your thoughts in broken English was impossible 5 years ago, people thought competing with Google in search was impossible I guess what you think is impossible today, will be something that will be routine and taken for granted, in the next 5 years

This is how the IAS really breaks honest officers. They don't fire them. They don't suspend them. They do something much smarter. They attach them. Full salary every month. Zero work. Zero posting. Zero power. Just sit there collecting taxpayer money while doing nothing for the public. Rinku Singh Rahi is the latest example. Day 1 as SDM he caught a clerk pissing on the wall and made him do sit-ups. Lawyers complained about broken toilets. He took responsibility, held his ears and did sit-ups himself. Video went viral. 36 hours later he was attached. For the next 8 months he got paid to do absolutely nothing. He resigned saying this silent punishment is also corruption. Another guy, Ashok Khemka, exposed massive land scams and got transferred 57 times in 33 years. Still kept going. The system has perfected this game. Honest ones get sidelined so they can't disturb the real players who keep enjoying full power and full comforts. And we people still call this the ultimate dream job. Parents push kids into UPSC coaching like their life depends on it. "Beta IAS ban jaao, life set ho jayegi." Life set? Or life trapped? Next time someone brags about their kid clearing UPSC, ask them if they're ready for the attached treatment when their child actually tries to work.

One of my friend got laid off from Oracle. Talked with him yesterday. His package was 37 lpa. Worked for the company for 10 years. Given his 100%. Contributed to the growth of the company. And what he got after 10 years - immediate termination without any notice or call. But he is still calm. He said "I am fine with this. Actually I am happy. Now I will not work for any IT company. I will focus on Farming. Will help my father and family in Farming." He has invested good amount of money while working 9-5. And he left his IT job happily. ( layoff made him happy 😊 ).

@Jairam_Ramesh Every individual's vote should have same value in Universal Adult Franchise meaning "Jitni Abadi Utna Haq". If MP has same population as TN, then both should have same number of seats. Same way if UP's population is 3x of TN, it should have 3x number of seats.

The Modi Govt is proposing to bulldoze a Bill to increase the size of the Lok Sabha by 50%. The number of seats allocated to each state is also proposed to be increased by 50%. The argument that a 50% increase in seats across-the-board is equitable is deceptive. Proportions may not change for the present but there are deeper implications that cannot be wished away. Any increase in the gap in the existing strengths of different states in the Lok Sabha will place South Indian states at a disadvantage. For instance, currently Uttar Pradesh has 80 seats and Tamil Nadu has 39. With the proposed Bill, UP’s strength will zoom to 120 while Tamil Nadu will crawl up to at best 59. Similarly, Kerala will increase from 20 Lok Sabha seats to 30 seats, while Bihar will move from 40 to 60 seats. Overall, the southern states will gain 66 seats while the northern states will gain 200 seats. Mr. Modi is unilaterally preparing a law which will disadvantage smaller states in the South, Northeast, and West. The Chief Minister of Telangana has already raised an alarm. Others may very well follow as this proposal becomes officially public.

@theskindoctor13 I personally know someone who was impacted. Oracle did lay severance pay. 3 months salary + 1 month for each year completed. So a person who worked for 10 year would have got 13 months pay as Sev package. Although severance package might not be there in all companies.

Oracle fired 12,000 of its Indian workforce and is expected to sack more. Another reminder of how fragile stability is in the private sector. One secures employment, income begins to flow, long-term plans take shape, home, car, loans, EMIs. And then, a single decision by the corporate to “rationalize” or “downsize,” and everything collapses overnight. Unless you quickly re-enter the job market, fixed liabilities don’t pause; they compound stress and can upend an otherwise steady life. While you earn, you must pay taxes. The moment you lose your job, you’re on your own. In fact, you even have to pay tax on the severance also. Maybe it’s time to introduce reforms, such as mandating severance pay ranging from three months to one year based on an employee’s tenure, as is the norm in the West; allowing EMI pauses for a 3-6 months; and providing a time-bound monthly allowance from the govt for involuntary job losses. If Ladla/Ladlis can get free money, free ration, free water, and electricity, without paying any income tax, why not support a worker who has been paying taxes and contributing?

@sardesairajdeep No. He will try to get de-facto control of Iran's oil and only then get out. So that means taking some islands and getting control over the government. He will aim to do that in weeks. But many say it can last months. I don't think so. Let's see.

He’s had enough of it—it’s costing too much money, and it’s taking a toll in terms of energy prices, oil markets, and allied confidence. So he’s looking for a ceasefire. Amazon is going to be battered. So is Meta in this US-Iran war. Both made the switch to MAGA-DS from GLISCO-DS. Causing great loss to GLISCO-DS. So Iran will be asked to target both. Of which, Amazon is the most exposed in the middle east as we see.
