@hamiguahuan @theonly_kenz @ughfinewhatever No this is pretty consistent with a panic attack considering the time course of the symptoms and complete resolution afterwards. That’s not to say it’s not very real and a good bit to deal with, they can be pretty intense and cause some temporary neurologic deficits like this.

@theonly_kenz @ughfinewhatever i feel like you just described an experience that people are always like “i thought this was a panic attack but it was actually this semi-esoteric health issue” but idk

@mildewymelon @unelilebulle @erensdeadmilf @sadsadlady_ I appreciate you sharing your experience. I think medication was definitely appropriate in your case, just generally that it won’t fix things by itself. Further goes to show the importance of each provider taking an individual approach to each patient

@inthehm01 @CoffeeBlackMD There has never been a trial of albumin vs no-albumin in HRS. I suspect in the ICU where we can give vasopressors easily it makes absolutely no difference

I think there are clear cases where albumin helps. And believe me I understand the studies. I’ve been beat over the head with them. In an ICU it’s not something you just give to everyone. But also. We will replace everything else when it’s low. Except albumin. F*ck albumin?

@mildewymelon @unelilebulle @erensdeadmilf @sadsadlady_ I’m saying it’s a reasonable question BECAUSE I have empathy for all of the women who suffer from vaginismus and I don’t want to see medical misinformation surrounding it going viral. I see your point though I could have done both

@mildewymelon @unelilebulle @erensdeadmilf @sadsadlady_ I’m trying to share with you how asking that question has literally helped women with vaginismus I have directly worked with and that it can be a reasonable question and not bad like you’re implying. I would genuinely love to learn how that’s invalidating anyone.

@inthehm01 @unelilebulle @erensdeadmilf @sadsadlady_ This post is specifically about how vaginismus patients are humiliated and not given empathy during treatment. Trying to invalidate this woman for feeling this way is so crazy. All you're doing is proving the point. Move along

@inthehm01 @mildewymelon @unelilebulle @sadsadlady_ she had known me for years, had known that this had happened with many different men, and had also known that this had been a problem for me in many different relationships. that’s why it felt condescending. it might be more fair if i was a first time patient

@mildewymelon @unelilebulle @erensdeadmilf @sadsadlady_ Me saying they should have worded it differently is defending them? Pretty sure that’s a direct criticism. Other than that I’m just saying we shouldn’t assume things we don’t know.

@mildewymelon @unelilebulle @erensdeadmilf @sadsadlady_ I hear you and I do know that vaginismus patients are often written off easily. But that’s also because meds do not have good evidence for vaginismus the way pelvic floor PT, dilators, and CBT do for example. It’s not about gatekeeping, just that meds don’t typically fix it.

@inthehm01 @unelilebulle @erensdeadmilf @sadsadlady_ It's not a good question to assess for sexual anxiety or how safe a relationship is. In my own experience, gynecologists are not kind to vaginismus patients and do not like giving any sort of medication that might alleviate anxiety, muscle spasms, or pain

@mildewymelon @unelilebulle @erensdeadmilf @sadsadlady_ I asked if you’ve ever helped work someone else up with vaginismus or care for them because you’d be surprised the answers these questions can get and how often they’re actually useful. Your case is not the same as everybody else’s.

@mildewymelon @unelilebulle @erensdeadmilf @sadsadlady_ You don’t know what else they did or didn’t ask, and neither do I, we weren’t there. I literally said in my other comment that if that’s how they asked then they worded it poorly.

@mildewymelon @unelilebulle @erensdeadmilf @sadsadlady_ The question isn’t asking as much about horny or not as much as it’s indirectly assessing patient comfort with sex, because anxiety (whether conscious or not) will exacerbate vaginismus. Have you ever actually cared for patients with vaginismus or helped work it up medically?

@afewsmallbeers @29cailean @uspolitics1111 I support universal healthcare, progressive taxation, strong social programs, abortion rights, and civil rights and freedoms. If you want to call that right wing then knock yourself out buddy, people outside your online bubble will laugh at you.

@gitanoeth @mert Every patient I’ve seen on red yeast rice ended up on a statin. Not comparably efficacious

@mert Probably at least 10 things "the entire population" should do before using statins. Beberine and fibre, should be enough to treat high LDL. Red yeast rice is a natural statin (without the side effects)

talked to 3 cardiologists since this and im left with the obvious question: why isnt the entire population on statins? LDL cholesterol is cumulative damage and irreversible the lower it is the better (without threshold) it seems to be extremely positive EV for anyone?

@0xcached @ImperialKM @AquaDon44 @Dexerto You really are trying to make the argument that vastly increased opportunity to cheat doesn’t lead to more cheating? Good luck with that. “surround myself with shitty people” whole time I’m talking about what I’ve seen different workplaces I’ve been at.

@inthehm01 @ImperialKM @AquaDon44 @Dexerto my friend, you cant apply your anecdotes and call them objective truth. you can say that potentially you surround yourself with shitty people who given the opportunity show you how shit they are.
