From an exceptional cohort of twelve startups in the BFI VK Connect program, five biomedical innovators have earned the opportunity to establish their presence within the European healthcare ecosystem. Through this initiative, these startups will gain access to strategic partnerships, market entry pathways, and networks that can accelerate their journey toward global impact. Meet the five startups taking this step forward: ForschMedX Abhishek Gaikar, Founder & CEO TrachEase – An automated airway management system that combines a modified endotracheal tube, smart suction, and real time obstruction detection to clear airway secretions in ventilated patients. CrisprBits Kruthika B S, Principal Scientist and Manoti Tare, Lead, Business Operations PathCrisp MicroDetect-AMR – A CRISPR-based point-of-care diagnostic that uses portable PCR and rapid detection to identify pathogens and antimicrobial resistance markers directly from blood culture. Intignus Biotech Vaishnavi Kulkarni, Founder & CEO and Disha Honwad, Clinical Research & Business Development Manager PEscreen – A rapid, low cost (<15 min) LFA-based screening test that predicts preeclampsia risk, supported by a digital care management platform called WiseMother. Open MedLabs Deval Karia, Founder & CEO and Dharaniya Natarajan, Program Manager Drug Delivery Pump Engine – A precision (<3% error), low cost continuous subcutaneous drug delivery platform powering devices like InsuFlo and adaptable for multiple therapies. Aignosis Artificial Intelligence Divyansh Mangal, Co-founder & Director and Raksheet Jain, Co-founder & Director Aignosis – An AI-powered developmental screening platform using eye tracking and behavioral analytics for early detection of neurodevelopmental conditions such as autism. By connecting Indian innovators with international stakeholders, BFI VK Connect is enabling promising healthcare solutions to scale beyond borders.

In an exemplary display of professional competence and dedication to duty, Surg RAdm Manish Honwad, Additional DGMS (Navy), provided critical medical assistance to an unresponsive co-passenger aboard Air India Flight AI 174 (San Francisco–New Delhi). Demonstrating composure and clinical acumen, he administered CPR, provided oxygen support and undertook continuous monitoring for over three hours, ensuring the safe diversion of the aircraft and timely handover of the patient at Kolkata.
