It doesn't help this season that games are longer, but I believe the injury issues may be partly attributed to having to play so many more games last season without having the squad depth for proper rotation. Liverpool went from almost winning the Quad to finishing 5th after a disastrous start to last season and an injury crisis. Staying in all four cup competitions with minimal rotations I believe has clearly had its impact on injuries.
