This is an attempt by the NCAA to keep all of the money to itself instead of the Crown getting a piece of the pie. The NCAA continues to destroy itself with greed.

@carolinamets Since you asked... Story I am hearing is Duke, possibly others, wanted him to wait a yr, but his agents pushed for now. So, a hungry coach worked with greedy agents, rather than have the kid wait, further develop, etc. Just a story. Maybe true, maybe not.
