Consumer AI in India is being throttled by inference cost. Even open-source isn’t cheap enough at scale.
Low-cost inference layer for India unlocks a wave of apps across education, health, fitness, wealth, entertainment, recruiting, and chatbots for the next 1B users.
Distribution rails are already built (UPI, cheap data, smartphones). Demand is not a constraint, unit economics is.
The moment cost drops 10x, we will see an explosion.

Saw the Barbershop podcast and had the same reaction. What's always fascinating in retail is which behavior helps a brand "earn" the consumer for life
VS founder's decision to service the TVs themselves, instead of asking the buyer to "figure it out" with the manufacturers, is such a no-brainer today. But equally surprising that it wasn't then.

Indian IT bloodbath this week:

Clear message: No reward until IT Services companies demonstrate OPEX leverage from AI (via higher revenue per employee with positive CC revenue growth)
There was a clear window of 3+ yrs for these cos to withhold buybacks & dividends - to allow re-investment into R&D and product capability.

I talked to a customer who replaced 3 AI tools with a single API workflow they built themselves using vibe coding
they were non-technical. used @replit agent to build the whole thing in a weekend
the workflow:
1) pull a list of attendees from a specific industry event
2) enrich each person's profile: current role, company size, funding stage
3) filter down to people matching their ICP
4) rank by intent signals (recent job changes, company growth)
5) auto-draft personalized outreach referencing their conference attendance
he was paying $2,000/month for 3 different tools that each did one piece of this. now it runs on a single API for a fraction of the cost
this is the trend i keep seeing: GTM and recruiting teams at startups are building their own tools instead of buying SaaS
this is why we built Crustdata, he's using our API for steps 2-4 and piping it into an AI tool for the outreach drafts

I had pretty high expectations from the YC Startup School Bangalore event, but it ended up being a complete letdown.
There were barely enough chairs for a crowd of ~2000 people, the venue was uncomfortably hot with almost no proper air circulation, and the sound system was so bad that it was hard to even follow what was happening on stage.
On top of that, there weren’t even enough drinking water bottles for the crowd, which is just basic event hygiene.
There was also no proper space outside to sit or have conversations, which defeats the whole point of attending something like this.
Overall, it felt poorly planned and badly executed.

I haven’t made a single CRM entry this year.
But, my AI agent has created & edited entries for:
