@isleresorts @none_ofbusiness Those words can execute commands with simple tooling. These chatbots can take actions and have been for a long time. You're out of touch

@Pompsy1 @none_ofbusiness But the only thing its programmed to do is output words so that's all it will do, there's no way it can go rogue in its current state because it's not a standalone entity. It's trained on words and spits out words

@isleresorts @none_ofbusiness Ok? Chatgpt is programmed to do essentially everything though. So whatever it's "not programmed to do" isn't a lot. Also chatgpt isn't "programmed" it's trained. We don't know what it learned to do

@Pompsy1 @none_ofbusiness Yeah but that doesn't mean it can start doing anything it wasn't specifically programmed to do

@isleresorts @none_ofbusiness Have you even interacted with a modern coding agent? It can easily do things you didn't intend it to all the time. Usually as a mistake.

@isleresorts im using the SDL3 gpu api that uses vulkan and stuff instead of opengl for maximum pain and gain, although it seems to make way more sense than when i tried opengl directly and does a pretty good job with abstracting while still exposing how things actually work

One pattern I find useful for working with LLMs is a nice long ramble session. Sometimes the LLM needs more bits to understand what you're trying to achieve, but you're too lazy to type them. In these cases I like to lean back, switch to /voice and just ramble for like 10 minutes, total mess, anything goes, full stream of consciousness. Sometimes I declare it up top, something like "switching to speech recognition sorry for any typos...". Sometimes I turn it into a small interview of a few turns. But I find that the LLMs are somehow very good at reconstructing long incoherent rambles and often their echo of your own tangle of thoughts comes out quite a bit cleaner than what you started with. The result is that you improve the mind meld and have to correct things less from that point on.

@velho37 Are u just learning opengl for the sake of it? Thats some torture, I dont think anyone uses the rendering features in sdl3 directly, rmlui has an sdl3 backend where it uses opengl and you can still draw with vertices and shit via rmlui, idfk if thats what gpu rendering even is

@isleresorts seems pretty cool that rmlui thing for getting things going quick but not rly what i'm looking for, just kinda want to learn a thing or two about graphics. trying SDL3 currently i like it better

@mmmzsolt @tsoding I assumed you were talking about distributed software not just running calculations but that's a good point, and i considered the operating system being a form of input, but when creating a modern app you can just use libraries to abstract away most interaction with the os

@isleresorts @tsoding Well, some software is constant, like a very complicated calculation whose result we need to find only once. :) I was trying to also imply, that the computer and the operating system is also an input that you need to ultimately consider. :))
