This is a tough tradeoff b/w what’s best for the system & what’s best for each company’s protection of its cash. What are solutions to establish trust and avoid more runs? Increase FDIC insur for biz accts? Educate on staying w/ existing bank but better treasury mgmt? What else?

Founders have been through crazy sh*t in past 3 years: - pandemic - recession #1 - supply chain breaks - recovery —> crazy fundraising - war outbreak - recession #2 - bank run on main tech bank Companies that make it out are going to be 🔥

amidst the chaos, something kind of amazing is happening. we are witnessing founders and investors all trying to help each other, sharing information, tips, references, and resources. calling each other constantly to share. a small silver lining today...

Here’s the FDIC deposit insurance FAQ. There may be some wrinkles related to corporate accounts, and I’ll add updates if so. But it appears that any SVB accounts with more than $250k in them now have funds locked up in a long-term recovery process… fdic.gov/resources/depo…

Appears that SVB has been closed. The FDIC link says uninsured depositors (with over $250k?) get a receivership certificate for their uninsured funds. If I’m reading this right, that means any entity that still has money on SVB now has to go through a bankruptcy claims-like process for money over $250k. And may not be able to access funds during that time… “All insured depositors will have full access to their insured deposits no later than Monday morning, March 13, 2023. The FDIC will pay uninsured depositors an advance dividend within the next week. Uninsured depositors will receive a receivership certificate for the remaining amount of their uninsured funds. As the FDIC sells the assets of Silicon Valley Bank, future dividend payments may be made to uninsured depositors.” fdic.gov/news/press-rel…
